Re: It wasn't broken

I didn't mind the new search UI until I realised you could no longer switch search engine using the CTRL + (arrow key) shortcut.

I disabled it shortly after.

Windows XP fixes flaws for free if you turn PCs into CASH REGISTERS

Re: Even better idea

For your information I still use a netbook. I live in an area with very poor broadband speeds (maxes out at around 2.5Mbps) and so in order to download large files I have to leave my machine on all day. Since my netbook consumes a lot less electricity than either my PC or laptop it comes in very handy.

It's also compact and light enough to carry around with me the majority of the time. I use it for playing old games console ROMs as I prefer them to mobile phone games. The battery life is also comparable to my mobile phone.

Windows XP market share GROWS AGAIN, outstrips Win 8.1 surge

At home I have an 8 year old PC running Windows XP that I have absolutely no intention of replacing/upgrading any time soon. If need be I'll disconnect the thing from the internet seeing as it's mainly used for developing, listening to music and watching videos anyway. I'll just use my netbook (running Windows 7) for web browsing/downloading.

To everyone wondering why people with ancient hardware don't simply upgrade - my answer would be that I can't justify shelling out for functionality I either already have or don't need.

Re: Not on my shopping list.

I haven't yet decided on whether to purchase a PS4 or an Xbox One but, honestly, MKV support will be a major deciding factor. It will mean I can do away with my media player.

Re: (American) second hand sales of things are somewhat rare.

"I have bought games second hand, I dont think I have ever sold one back though."

What I generally like to do is after I've purchased and completed a recently released game, rather than sell it on for 50-75% of what I paid for it, I let it gather dust in the corner for a few years and then sell it to CEX for 30p.

Sony PS3 extends lead over Microsoft's Xbox 360 by a cool million

Re: Not in the UK I don't think.

"I've only ever met 3 real people who have owned a PS3."

So that would be 75% of the 4 people you know then.

You're not doing it right. It works fine.

"If they don't let you delete your account, then change it so that the information is valid, but irrelevant."

You will still have the problem of this information being audited. Although data stored in the audit logs won't be considered 'live' by [insert site] they will still have it on record.

"...by strangers they will never meet."

Why would you accept a friend request from a stranger? Have you actually used Facebook? - www.facebook.com - in case you don't know the address.

Re: I recently switched to Sky Unlimited upto 20 meg

I ordered line rental and broadband from Sky when I moved into my current flat. The line rental was supposed to be activated several weeks before the broadband went live, but it wasn't. I phoned them up and they said from the tests they were running on my line, and due to the distance I was from the exchange, that realisticallly I would only be able to receive around 0.5 meg from them. They deferred activating the line rental order in case I wanted to switch to another provider in light of the fact they couldn't provide me with broadband... which was nice :).

Spot on

When I applied for my current position the recruitment agency guy gave me a short technical interview over the phone. It was pretty easy as he understood neither the questions nor the answers. I just assured him I was correct.
