First look: iOS 7 for iPad

What's the obsession with bland interfaces nowadays!?

Microsoft Office & Hotmail/Outlook has it, Google sites have it and Apple are now doing it. I'm all for a refresh of the UI but I'm not a fan of these white ones with little definition.

Setanta, ESPN couldn't make UK footie TV work. How will BT Sport?

Re: and motogp

Yep, read about the MotoGP last night, can't believe that one. Looks like I'll be resorting to dodgy streams.

Peak txt: 1.5 billion more chat app msgs sent than SMSes a day

With my cheap tariff I get unlimited SMS which makes it the obvious choice for me, especially as I only get 100Mb data a month - using something like iMessage or WhatsApp would use up some of the data allowance (albeit a small amount) providing I wasn't in a WiFi area.

The only handy side I see to them is sending something other than text (images, etc), which I rarely do.

BSkyB punters drown in MASSIVE MYSTERY Yahoo! mail! migration!

Re: Here's a thought...

Every day's a school day! It's been years since I've made any use of POP but interesting to know!

Re: Here's a thought...

Might it be that they use POP to download the emails but don't delete from the server - so emails from years ago still exist and are copied over and treated as a new non-downloaded email when POP next checks in.

Build a BONKERS gaming PC

Thumb Up

As much as I enjoyed building PCs in my youth, I'm glad I don't do it anymore (I tend to buy the bundles from places like Novatech).

The spec of that beast made my eyes water :)

Twenty classic arcade games

Thumb Up

Sadly I never got a chance to play a lot of these games, though I do remember seeing a lot of them in action. My memories were of the more "modern" titles, 4 player Turtles and Simpsons - cheesy but I enjoyed them. Along with the odd go on Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct.

I remember having a go on Mad Dog McCree (which was mentioned earlier) when I was quite young...I don't think I made it past the first shot! :)

Official: Fandroids are smarter/tighter* than iPhone fanbois

Wow, the mention of O2's XDA, that's a blast from the past. I shudder thinking back to when I had to make use of the first XDA model. Though I did like the fact I could write my own programs to run under it.

Buying a petabyte of storage for YOURSELF? First, you'll need a fridge

I pretty sure some of the staff here could hit a petabyte in storage quite easily...

Brazilian-made 'iphone' runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Slipping already!

So they can only use the lowercase 'p' but yet their statement contains an uppercase 'P' - is that Apple knocking at the door?

Outlook 2013 spurns your old Word and Excel documents

Is Outlook 2013 web based? I was a bit confused by how it could cut support in an email app as it's just an attachment...?

Maybe I'm being a bit slow!

Microsoft 'surprised' by Google Gmail 'winter cleaning'

Funnily enough

I signed up for an outlook.com account when Google made their announcement. Doubt I'll actually use it though, I still prefer gmail. I guess I'll have to see how it goes with ActiveSync on it's way out.

Microsoft’s so.cl network now open to all

That took long...

So I visited the site, to be presented with someone's random photo album of women wearing very little.

Help-desk hell

Printer Issues

A couple of years ago I had one user who complained that their laserjet printer was making a bit of a noise. They also suggested it may be the "drive belt" that was causing this unusual noise. After a short trip down to see the printer it turned out the drive belt they mentioned was an elastic band which had found it's way into the output tray...problem solved...

Gmail goes titsup for 30 MILLION PUNTERS

Re: Related?

As I remember you can.

e.g. joebloggs@gmail.com

So you own them all, I remember reading it when setting up my account a while back.

Report: Feeble spam filters catch less junk mail

Thumb Down

McAfee?? Really??

I find it laughable that McAfee are said to have a good capture rate. I've had to use two of their systems in the past few years and both of them were horrid, especially GroupShield (with spam addon). After going round in circles with their support their solution to blatant spam emails was to individually blacklist the emails! Needless to say it was only installed for a few months.

Boffins insert 3D objects into any old photo... realistically

Did you not watch the video?

I watched it, minus sound, and the bit with the light shafts is pretty impressive.
