Bank of England ponders minting 'Britcoin' to sit alongside the Pound

LucasNorth

Noone has ever needed a Distributed Ledger for anything, blockchain is a pointless technology. The OECD nations should simply ban all financial institutions from providing services to crypto companies. Considering that it's pretty much impossible to spend crypto without first turning it into cash they would die out immediately and this cult period would be over

LucasNorth

Re: Four new bodies

sounds a lot more sensible course of action that actually making a crypto

Won't somebody please think of the children!!! UK to mount fresh assault on end-to-end encryption in Facebook

LucasNorth

Patel is a fool and there is no technical solution to allow E2E except when we know the person is a peadophile. That said the author of this article sounds like part of the privacy at all costs cult. There is no reason at all why law enforcement shouldn't be able to access a person's communication once they have a court order. That said they have been spying on everyone illegally so encrypt everything already and forget about the children.

One careful driver: Make room in the garage... Bloodhound jet-powered car is up for sale

LucasNorth

it amazes me that anyone would give a penny to such a pointless project let alone the millions that have already been wasted on it

Ex-missile systems worker jailed for breaching Official Secrets Act after last-second guilty plea

LucasNorth

Muppet would have got 1/3 off his sentence if he’d pleaded guilty and not had to waste his time in court, is there a more boring the place in the entire world than a court room?

Apple now Arm'd to the teeth: MacBook Air and Pro, Mac mini to be powered by custom M1 chips rather than Intel

LucasNorth

of course it's far faster than the last gen macbook seeing as apple left them languishing on intel's 8th gen processors. No sensible person buys a mac for themselves, they are a total rip off but if my work wants to think I need one as developer then I will not correct them.

Cambodia launches blockchain-powered peer-to-peer payments, hopes it crushes cash

LucasNorth

No one has ever needed a blockchain. I’m yet to see a blockchain implementation that wouldn’t be better with the blockchain element removed. It is a useless technology

LucasNorth

Pakistan calls on Facebook to extend holocaust denial ban into Islamophobia crackdown

LucasNorth

Islamophobia is a word created by fascists and used by cowards to manipulate morons. Only anti Muslim bigotry exists, Islam is a totalitarian political ideology that must be opposed at all turns. That much is clear to anyone who actually reads the koran

Bitcoin value jumps as PayPal says it will accept cryptocurrencies... once it has the kinks worked out

LucasNorth

read what I said, I didn't say that it is only used by criminals, I said that the only advantages it has over money are ones that only criminals need. Lord knows why a law abiding criminal would use them, they are useless.

LucasNorth

so all you have used it to buy is actual money, you are not an investor, you are a gambler. You are supporting my claim that is has no legitimate use case

LucasNorth

it's useless as a store of wealth because the price fluctuates more than dona;d trumps mental state

LucasNorth

"cryptocurrencies" offer no advantages over money unless you are a criminal. Add to that the insane amount of electricty that generating them consumes just so that economically illiterate bedroom dwellers can "trade" it. It would be hard to outlaw such a crackpot product but it would be trivial to simply ban visa, mastercard, paypal etc from dealing in it.

Developer survey: C# losing ground to JavaScript, PHP and Java for cloud apps, still big in gaming

Money laundering and crypto-coin legislation could hurt open-source ecosystem – activists

LucasNorth

This is not a problem. I work for a company that pretends to use a blockchain and I can tell you that blockchain is a worthless technology. Anything that makes companies less likely to waste their time on this nonsense technology has to be a good thing
