Yes, this Birdy News Site manages to sagnate a bit more every day.

How long before Anna gets her pink slip? Any chance of you "flopping", Anna, and doing an about turn on writing the same stuff every day. Stale. Stale. Stale.

Dont need to admit you are wrong, just do it differently and we will take that as an admission from you.

I am sure you can admit you are wrong.. havent seen it, but what do we know?

Re: Not impressed

Can one article on e-cars PLEASE tell me how much it costs to charge this thing?

I have yet to read one article what doesnt conveniently leave this out. Leccy is not Free.

Quoting MPG based on petrol is all well and good, but if you tell me that charging everynight adds £200 to my electricity bill each month, then the whole thing kinda goes up in smoke. (as the batteries most likely will after the first tip you have in the car!! )

Re: As reported yesterday by other sites...

@Nanki Poo

Been following this Birdy News Site's history with Apple for many years now, so no need to read up.

Its just that Reg were once able to come up with witty one-liners (and not just for Apple) that made me laugh too.

But now, the lines are just the same day in day out. Foxconn rebrander made me laugh to, until i read it for the 1000th time. And the irony is that in that time, Reg Reporting has gone into the drink so that they are really just themselves a rebrander of news from other sites.

I used to like the Reg for their ability to add humour and provide a satirical opinion on tech/corporate affairs, but now it like watching a stand-up comic use the same act for 30 years. You can predict it, heck you could standup and do it.

This Birdy News site is losing its edge.

Re: As reported yesterday by other sites...

Dear C. (too cowardly to use your name??)

I think he meant this Birdy News Site not bothering to fill web space with essentially copy and paste material and just provide the link to the original article.

And please, the constant referring to someone as a re-brander.... for gods sake get a new joke. Really. its old. We get it (although i never really understood it as most companies have to have suppliers. Its not like Foxconn designed the product or suppled the OS. )

GM snatchback of $10m Facebook ad cash = amateur move

Seanie Ryan
Pirate

Re: And your point is???

yep, looks like Mr Asay has already put a bit of his cash into Facebook shares and is desperately trying to convince people that 'its all ok' , hoping the share price doesnt nose dive.

my advice, dump them early.

Facebook, JC penny etc are all copping on to the fact that FB is a Social area, not a sales or reasearch area.

And tv works, because when the ads come on you cannot still see the program on any other part of the screen. On websites, you can ignore the advert becuase what you are reading is still there, so you dont have to switch your attention.

Oh, and to your question of how would GM know if the campaign worked, thats kind of the whole point of analysing a campaign. As in "We spent X here and sales and interest went up y%, but we spent Z here and sales/interest didnt budge" . If GM cant tell you that, No-One can. Centainly not you or FB. Maybe thats too much to understand for this Birdy News Site?

Re: Re: Re: Looks more like Apple locking people into the app store to me

Hi Ben

I have to admit a bit of tongue in cheek with that part of my post. Just highlighting how completely ridiculous people get with their arguements for/against certain things.

I happen to like the 'walled garden' idea on my phone. I have yet to think of an App that i couldnt find in the App Store that i 'really' need and i consider myself a power user.

I am happy that i am quite safe though.

Its all fine getting a virus on your computer and it spewing out spam. Cost = zero (and yes i know,it can be more if it gets access to password etc, but for this example i am just identifying one issue)

But on my phone, if i get something that , the texts/calls to premium can cost me.

So a phone should be more guarded.

and anyone who hates the walled garden, then answer is simple... just find a different phone, no big deal :)

Re: Looks more like Apple locking people into the app store to me

what a nonsense article.

There is NOTHING here to lock you down, just a select box to allow the user to pick a setting. BIG NEWS!!

OS X will never be locked down like iOS.

And if you want to talk about locked down, how come no-one ever said windows was locked down because it only allows me install windows apps. I want it to run my mac & *nix apps and it wont. Bloody M$ and their walled garden ! what a load of Crap.

interesting that the companies who say this is bad are the ones who stand to lose financially.

stop talking crap guys. Its only a setting that can be easily changed. I know I would set it to App store only on my kids / idiot families Macs so I have one level of worry less with them.

solution

if all malware is known to have included code to not run in a VM (windows & mac) then surely it must be possible to put something in place to make it *look* like you are running a VM , even if you are not, and then malware wont run? Is that over-simplifying it?

Eg: malware checks for a plist or a registry setting and wont run if its there. Then just put it there even though it does nothing.

What about all the Google 'partners' who woke up Monday to find out that they are now Google Competitors. Direct competitors !
