IIRC, IBM suggested something like this before iTunes was a gleam in someone's eye. The music industry back then was no smarter than they are now. Turned up their noses as walked (ran) the other way. Book publishers should NOT have entered into the iMonopoly and they wouldn't be in the current sad state. They gave up whatever high ground they had when they slipped into the gutter with Apple holding their heads under.
I don't want anything inside, outside, or near my home "connected" except for my personal computer through the firewall; and it's hardwired. It's bad enough the government can (and will) snoop at will via any means possible (serious stop drinking reminder to those who think otherwise); and the griefers out there will find a way to bollox up your home and devices there if there is any access to the controlling device. I'll just keep my manual cookstove, furnace, leccy, fridge...thanks very much.
Why local utilities think they have any right to ask for SSN when that information has nothing whatsoever to do with providing simple services and you're not talking about large contracts. In many states they are specifically prohibited from demanding such prior to providing services or as a condition of providing services.
A pox on their houses.
In the US, they have numerous invasive species that are causing problems (and not just south-o-border ones)...
chestnut blight
emerald ash borer
dutch elm disease
asian carp
large snakes in everglades
kudzu
blackbird
english sparrow
starling
zebra mussel
lost track of how many more
Why don't they sell all their fabulous product through their monopoly buddy Apple? I bet they would even cut them a special deal. Meantime, they should open their own shop on their web site (assumes they're actually smart enough to have one) and sell everything they have. No sympathy for them for their prior crooked dealing and now they're paying the piper.
The oil will stay in the ground in california because it's a NIMBY state. they use more oil, gas, and electricity than any other state, but don't want anybody drilling in their precious reserves. well, let me give them a big boo hoo. Peak oil nuts are proven wrong, so wring your hands elsewhere.
I'm sorry, but your "discuss the controversy" sounds just like the creationists. they have no argument; they have no knowledge; they have no fact. The "lack" of scarcity is not a question of divergent opinions among the "experts"; the knowledgeable sources were never sourced for the original article.
The only thing i've run out of is gold-pressed latinum; everything else we're good on for a long, long time. good article.
Hahahahaha! I take it you've never actually dealt with a scamming seller!
Had the misfortune to purchase a camera and lenses from someone who claimed they were "clean"'; they were not. Seller claimed the lens diaphrams were clean and not oily; another lie. I had to send the whole lot back at my expense and then make sure I didn't post negative against the shyster so they didn't ruin my rep.
Pot, meet kettle.
Who recalls LCS and how it was made?
How about the earlier 7080 and 7090 systems that could be programmed from the console?
The valves in the 083....where were they located?
You could actually read the data from a 7 track tape directly off tape with a viewer.
Card register anyone?
