CompSci Prof raises ballot hacking fears over strange pro-Trump voting patterns

circuitguy

Re: Vote Fraud? Are you CRAAAZY?

the fact is Obama had the DOJ monitoring Detroit and other intercity voting areas to ensure minorities would not be afraid to vote for Hillary. Halderman claims are just noise and more of an attempt to put in a statistic model to generate votes that Hillary didn't get. Hillary didn't get the minority percentage expected by the dems. Halderman and "Nelson" ethics never interfere with getting the desired results, no matter how much they have to "adjust" and loss out subsets of the raw data..

Dem-owned-crats: Now its congressional committee is hacked

circuitguy

misdirection

all this is hacking story is really funny. how many years have hackers been stealing credit data from Target, Macys, banks, etc. Hillary claims she's leadership material in today's world of technology. So, with access to some of the best minds from wallstreet to Apple genius bar...haha... how can a smart organization get hack? Dems need a big villain to blame and refocus the attention away from their screw ups and this story line rings too close to disinformation effort and plus a little hint of inside job for a few dollars for local talent. Hillary screams that they are needing and are rising a billion plus for campaigning in news and social media. What hustler, thief or hacker would not be draw to this issue?

Re: Your all talking Carp

"Your all talking Carp" very poor understanding of the subject. although I prefer "no one starts using them", the world is not made up of caring and rational individuals. nukes decay like cars or standard explosive devices, where some last long with care while others become junk. The problem is the core is consistently emitting high energy particles. these particles can damage electronics, plastic explosions, the metal casing, even cause a "phase" change in the nuclear material metallic structure(some of the crystal bonds deform) , etc... math models are just theories, as more studies are done and with very detail analysis of bomb is done, they can improve the model..... but no model will be 100% accurate because when these devices where manufactured, the tech didn't exist to measure true density of matter. And most people would prefer we didn't restart making new bombs....

Re: SR-71

SR-71 nose was more for stabilization and some lift at extreme altitude. at 3+mach speeds at 80k+ ft, air density varies a lot quicker, the nose helps "lift" and spread the shock wave created from re-entering denser air, think of it like boat breaking thru short high waves......

Re: Two steps forward...

these fuels will be made this an easy target for high energy defense systems but these fuels are more stable for storage, lowering a silo blast. too much acceleration will create problems for warhead targeting and energy "bleeding", but that said, the Russians have been interesting creative using low tech.

Re: Hyperbole

u need to re think china has no power here. relocation where, work force and energy needs... not counting shipping.

Apple can hardly charge ics with problems...... relocation and qualify control..... what other assembler outside can handle this.

Plus China has a lot of rare minerals used in ic production, they can control who buys their exports .....

So,in the end summary; apple collapse is not the end of the market for cell phones or china .... other manufacturers will slowly fill the production lost....

Re: Hyperbole

silly point. any foreign gov can order their local cell towers and carriers to degrade or stop iphone access..

if everyone would stop and remember how apple violated a local report reporter rights, had its security force with local help seize his computers and docus and demanded all "keys". then had him "jailed" for a few days and then went after family and friends .....

China has more power here, "labor laws and wages" and free two labor could stop and apple's cost would climb or they hold shipping up for safety...., etc...

Apple automatic update service is a backdoor, tough to use for locals, FBI, most 3nd world countries.... but that's about it.

Latest in Apple v FBI public squabble over iPhone crack demand

circuitguy

Re: Will it apply to other technology too?

this is a form of "discovery" and Apple can recovery cost once it is approved by judge. Historically Courts have ordered individuals to handle over their "keys". In the end, every big name lawyer will side with the FBI because the legal system will grind to a halt if discovery of docs is restrained, because Everyone will store critical data on phones or sets of phones, etc.

Re: Well played Apple

actually Obama can screw apple by reversing his decision that stop Samsung import ban on apple products it won. or order the treasury to freeze all apple bank accounts, etc.. under the nation security act.....

But Al Gore still represents Apple, Obama usually listens to the political side of advice from Gore verses national interest....

Re: Why is this even necessary? "counterfeited in a VM..."

first, if u sale hardware , software and services to the US or the DOD, u have no secret code. And u can not mass product ics and complete products without a boat load of special diagnostics tools the average tech people can use safety. the 256 cyp is more noise than a real problem. Seriously, mobile computing vs battery power vs storage access vs response time vs "system overhead" = limited encoding......256 becomes 32 bit....

but Apple the extra hardware for cyper of the ic..... the above still applies to power/heat/storage..... plus getting the data to cpu....

Did North Korea really just detonate a hydrogen bomb? Probably not

circuitguy

Re: H-Bombs, its the fission not fusion

"vast majority of the energy released coming from the fission not fusion" --- sorry, but that is totally incorrect. 235 uranium is not used as a "jacket" for the hydrogen isotope..... for many reasons, one is the chemical interaction, resulting in a bad "thing:. splitting-fission- energy is small in comparsion to fusion. simple example of fission process is the production of radon gas, that break down - fission- of uranium if was equal the energy released going from h3 to He, the earth surface would be molten rock and no water...... basic physics of e=mc2. and one can not compress a hollow core of uranium uniformly , for many reasons........ rhink of lead softness.....

circuitguy

general note, the US has always fail to properly record the data in the Clinton and Obama administrations during these "tests". These Administrations spins the story into noise. But the odds are high that this is a low yield test of a fusion device. Since it is extremely expensive to produce the proper isotopes and the most important part, the correct metal phase state(extremely difficult) , one shouldn't be surprise of a minimum design for demonstrate of the triggering stage and focusing housing. if one adds an external source of neutrons to the stream, as some earlier US designs used, its possible to vary the output of the fusion device.

Big Blue's big iron daddy Gene Amdahl dies aged 92

Gene's V6 forced IBM into released the 370 line sooner than planned, good for customers, a loss of extra income on old 360 hardware. while smart i/o controllers was the "thing" , in depth analysis of memory bus access "tie-ups" between different io speed devices and the cpu, etc,,, Gene's team designed a single master channel that passed io data subsystems that worked thru a special cache access. this gave the V6 series an edge over the newest IBM hardware for a long time. On simple modeling, IBM could not find any real benefit........ until real time analysis of new dynamic memory refresh cycle showed "issues" in delays.......

Re: The Swimming pool

"Heats the swimming pool", that's interesting. Amhdal computers were air cooled vs IBM being water cooled. Mini computers were a great advancement for small corps. IBM tried to pretend that minis were not "real" business computers..... then ......

circuitguy

The most of cost of s 360 series was all the new ics the IBM MADE in house and stop using TI for some ics when TI started building supercomputers. Plus water cooled added cost but sorting the interconnecting duel processors and core memory..... io subsystems cause some problems with bus delays....etc...

For the V6, Gene created a different approach to ic design by creating one master chip that had many subsystems on it..... lower cost of fab by 100% at worst..... 2000% by best analysis.. so core of processor was 100 similar ics. ..just wired different externally. ..

circuitguy

Gene was more noted about pushing uniform wiring lengths between boards in his early work on the 709s and 360s. Of course, putting micro coding on the cpu improved upgrades at a small speed loss ...

circuitguy

I had the pleasure of working with Gene designing the ics and the caching/branching; etc, on his V6. Crazy and tough times.... with IBM declaring war on anyone that help Gene

Re: MS, please help me understand

MS was never focused in producing stable and smart code. Half baked programming ruled the west coast for too long. It was cheaper and faster to produce poor coding, and with the early IBM alliance, generated a guarantee market, yielded large profits. So large profits yielded business models that supposed poor coding and created a massive 3nd party products fixing the obvious.

Re: If the FBI hacked the foreign server

NSA does not use FBI to do field work for remote data collections. FBI technically is still in the dark ages compared to most other US Agencies. FBI is trying to pr-ing its way to the 21st century. FBI has little power or skill set for non-USA operations, except rare prisoner transport where there is public pr interest. FBI is trying to build a powerful image in the world social networks........ and this is more about getting more funding and not being a obsolete agency and becoming under funded and forgotten.......

Sad

Apple political influence in the US courts in California approaches the crime mod level, it evens grown bigger than MS. I must admit that having Al Gore on it boards and having him running the political support network of "political correctness" has been able to bend the scales of Justice...... all those appointed and elected officials are "counting dollars" in those Ireland banks that can benefit them in the future. Most of these west coast US court judges owe a lot to the Clinton and Obama appointments or "advancements" and their case managements reflect it.

heat issues

Although the engineers have done good work here, I worry about hot spots that can create uneven expansion in 3d space. At this level, a few molecules breaking free can be problemic, especially if they are ionized from breaking away their lattice frame.

Re: So apple HAVE paid something then

Apple offered in a U.S. court trail a total of no more than $1 for Samsung patent royalties. .... the U.S. judge decided that Apple had no plans to negotiate in good faith and no settlement was possible. .... The judge issued a ruling about types of claims that Apple did not like and also dismissed Apple and Samsung claims against each other. Many believe that the dismissal was more damaging to Apple than to Samsung or Google position. Apple claims that frand patents(standards in communication) have little value vs a simple pinch to zoom patent, which apple claims its patent should be worth 25-35 us $ vs .05- .15 $ us for standard patents. Standard patents make the phone work with cell towers.... no patents ... no connection.... only Apple fails to pay.....

LOHAN deluged with Reg readers' interjections in REHAB

Alien

I should point out that you do not need to fire/burn the entire rocket motor, just the ing head and the less than an ounce of the rocket motor solid fuel. The question is: what is the effect of warm moist air going to extreme cold them do the ing spacing to solid fuel surface and moisture freezing between them and how much does this effect on the surfaces by increasing the heat needed(ele.current) to ing. A real fine/thin thickest of a simple glue or caulk material for covering and sealing surface ing device and solid fuel should work. Remember the cold will affect the material by shrinking and increase icing. Nitrogen should be use to shush the final model, no moisture inside, so it does not freeze inside model, creating an off-center of gravity problem......
