As in my earlier post I referred to UK's olde worlde ways of doing things (typified in film: Metropolis and in book: Brave New World) only a few people would ever wish, desire or have opportunity to board a plane pre-1970s. As for continental travel 100 quid per person was the maximum you could take out the country and destination nation might mean UK and overseas police visits on a daily basis

One of the biggest factors missed out in the report is that nowadays the UK is a player in a world market.
The trouble is that in a privilege based society like the UK (continentals kindly refer to it as 'olde worlde' or 'old fashioned way of doing things') operational efficiencies don't really count for much hence decline of UK from a world leader in 1945-ish to its almost total dependence on false investments and offshore funds shenanigans.
It also appears to be infective and I guess that within the next 40 years India's economy will overtake that of the US.
Now by what assumption based on premise: all EU ATCs become one, means that it will operate better?
I can understand the automatic sequence of thought that goes something like: fragmented ATC system across Europe presently makes for wasted effort and resources so make it ONE ATC system in Europe and all such problems will automagically disappear.
But it won't automagically work will it?
The first priority is to agree on stuff that is creating wasted efforts, resources n stuff then agree on how to solve it and that don't take a one EU system of ATC.
In the main it is abuse.
It means disrespecting a UK subject for potential pecuniary gain and who is to say that such a gain is also a personal enrichment or opportunity for the same?

20% of 1.20 is 0.24 GBP making 1.44
National Insurance rates paid at, say, 12% makes 0.12 GBP making 1.56 GBP for something costing 1.00 GBP
so to buy something costing 1.00 from the shop you have to pay guvmint 0.56 a nice little earner for Treasury and civil servants?

Can't take too much to say to all European ISPs something like: European directive, personal data is personal data, right of the individual and so forth create a search engine amongst yourselves that adds no more than £10 or €10 to annual cost. I take the alternative approach of stating: if Ireland can do it why can other nations not do it?
Rather than making a race to a highest common tax level why not make a race to a lowest common tax level?

It must - as in M-U-S-T - be screamingly obvious that every person in that nation is likely to agree to a minuscule increase in taxation just to keep me well paid and unjustifiably rewarded?
Rather than train and educate thousands for a few jobs required a few years way gone for data collected a good few years before that and analysed after typical bureaucratic delays why not let employers (the people in the know at cutting edge where the needs are sharpest and most immediate) use public dosh to educate employees to the required levels?)

Add the traditional UK class struggles and it makes for another recipe of squandered public dosh by those collecting that dosh and ultimately for the betterment of those directly involved dullwitted politicians permitting?
There is an important, crucial and vital importance in separating elected members from civil servants in the term "government".
Civil servants are supposed to be the do-ers making real the aims of elected guvmint but human beings being what human beings be the civil servants are merely optimising their career and earning potentials and stuff the overview what's in it for me m8?
Most times it is elected members doing the bidding of civil servants so we really cannot describe UK as a democracy it really is a fascism?
These are not trivial issues.
This is in part due to the English, Welsh, Scots or Northern Ireland interpretation and application of the constitution. Councils are also local authorities.
The trouble is multiple tensions arise as a local authority cannot take legal action upon itself even if the service provisioning arm (usually improper anyway and Councils are crap service providers anyway) is breaking the said councils rules and regulations.

Look, you can't keep multiple civil servants on prime minister income levels, maintain juicy salaries and uh-huh baby conditions of employment when taxes and tax revenues are decreasing by act of elected members.
It stands to reason that money must be extorted from elsewheres and one of those elsewheres is data held by said uncivil serventia.
Yep, hand ground beans seem to make softer more melodic flavored coffee (electric grinders generate too much heat and retoast the beans evaporating off delicate flavinoids?).
In some parts of the world an impatient coffee drinker needs a Zapata moustache to filter out the floating grounds (no explanation offered)
Filter and good, I say good, coffee grounds.
Don't let it stand on the hotplate too long - cold and freshish is better than stewed but even stewed has a redeeming quality of its own from time-to-time.
Aim: to balance faffing about, immediacy and decent hot drink in a reasonable timeframe.
Additional observation: European low cost coffee grounds seem superior to UK "in yer face" priced exclusive coffee grounds - used to like the mellowness of hand ground but the FAFF was too much really.
Oh! And don't use chilled milk or milk straight from the fridge. Room temperature/ambient temperature milk makes all the difference?
