Sounds like the coolness factor of an iPad with the clunkiness of Microsoft all combined in a walled garden. The worst of all worlds, what could go wrong? Are there Winheads clamoring for this like the iClones drool over the latest gadget from cuppertino?

Having used Window 8 preview for nearly a year now I can say I won't be recommending anyone to downgrade to this poor version on Windows. Like all even numbered version, wait until Windows 9. I rarely used the Metro/modern interface as it clogs up 50% of the screen with awful colored blocks and makes the other 50% completely useless. Ribbons do not make things easier, they merely waste time with their illogical ordering of useful commands. I'll be sticking with Windows 7 unless 9 shows improvements.

except that with Win 3.1 you could actually get to the programs you wanted with a few simple clicks, and not have to do away with the main interface to find anything. Aero is dated and cheesy, lets go back to big color blocks instead.

Who even uses Windows Media Player anyway? That's like using IE just because it came with the OS. VLC, Chrome, Firefox, etc were all written to get away from the simple OS crud and create useful programs.

Or lower prices to a reasonable and affordable level. Really? $300 for an OS upgrade from a mistake like Vista? It should have been a upgrade, Win 7 is Vista 2.0, the way it should have been to begin with. Even us beta testers were told 'thanks for the help, now go out and pay full retail'.
