Apple bag-search class action sueball moves to Cali supreme court

AndyJenk

Re: When will this bosses realise it works both ways?

Surely the point in asking someone to come in 15 minutes early is so that they are ON TIME for taking over. Otherwise you could have just moved all shifts by 15 minutes, Or were you simply

wanting people to work for nothing? Did the shift she was taking over from also arrive 15 minutes early?

Perhaps you have not explained clearly?

Re: When will this bosses realise it works both ways?

@drm Where did you get that idea from?

AndyJenk

Simple

So why doesn't Apple install airport style x-ray machines and pay someone to man them? . Will take seconds to check a bag. Happy employees, happy employer only paying for one person's time.

Samsung: Don't install Windows 10. REALLY

AndyJenk

I fail to see why Microsoft makes new Windows versions which are incompatible with previous drivers. The hardware hasn't changed. There is (or should be) a standard interface between Windows and drivers. Why change it? If Windows has added support for new features then it could do that without messing up the interface for devices which don't use or have those features.

Can somebody please explain?

Why not ignore JUST THE SPAM?

What evidence is there that 38 Degrees allowed multiple submissions? If a person emailed multiple submissions direct to the government what is the difference? It is the receiver's responsibility to filter out multiple submissions by a person and ignore THOSE not the vast majority which were not. Filtering multiple emails from the same address is not rocket science and not labour intensive. Also MPs could subvert petitions by creating multiple submissions themselves to justify rejecting genuine views.

I sent an email direct to my MP who said he was ignoring it because it was prompted by 38 Degrees! Where is the accountability if MPs ignore the same oppinion from more than one person?

Will Google now please stop randomly preventing people from seeing / adding comments on YouTube? Sometimes you see them, sometimes you don't.

Edge out rivals? No! Firefox boss BLASTS Microsoft's Windows 10 browser brouhaha

AndyJenk

There are alternatives available for most things supplied with Windows and other operating systems. Should Microsoft not supply a notepad with windows because better are available? If it didn't supply its own browser by default should it not provide one at all? If it didn't supply one how would you download another? If it supplied Firefox wouldn't then suffer the wrath of Google? What about drivers? Many companies supply their own. Do you want Windows to ship without ANY drivers?

Under Windows 10 can you not still download Firefox and does Firefox not give you the option to make it the default? How exactly would you download Firefox to do this without a default browser?

Apple patches FREAK-ed out Watch

Apple's watch is not that smart

Glad I got a real smart watch for £90. Takes a Sim card and has Android 4.4.2. It may have vulnerabilities but no more than stock KitKat. Has camera, bluetooth, GPS, motion sensor, voice input / output so it will actually TELL you the time without a tethered phone. Of course all the Android health apps etc. can be downloaded from Play Store. It is a Zgpax S8 and it works!

And then the Google lad says: Of course you can use Android Wear without a smartphone

AndyJenk

I have a ZGPAX S8 - a smart PHONE watch which takes a sim, runs Android 4.4.2, has access to Play Store, has a camera, bluetooth and GPS etc. The disadvantage is battery life with so many possible apps but tiny power banks are available and improving all the time. Not quite there yet with the on-screen keyboard but there are several innovative designs which show great potential. This cost me 90GBP. I now don't NEED my phone with me but could use it as a keyboard if necessary until a better keyboard is perfected. Why on earth do people pay more for less capable (and often less attractive) watches just because they carry a well known name? Chances are they were made by the same Far East country anyway.

Tortoise and the hare

The editor seems to believe that the hare can never catch the tortoise. He uses the same 'logic'. 20% of each UK transaction goes to the government in VAT. Of course the Government doesn't really get all our money after 20-odd such transactions. Or does it?

Watch. Out Mock the Week and HIGNFY!

As satirical TV programs get syndicated around the world I can easily see the BBC deciding to drop them. Unless foreign laws protecting politicians specify the country then presumably OUR politicians are protected by the same laws (god help us!)

No SD slot? Use OTG.

Google has (so far) not hobbled USB. So put your SD card or Micro SD card in a USB adapter and use an OTG cable. The advantages of having the ability to use any app to edit / delete / move data far outweighs the disadvantage of having a cable attached when necessary.

Incidentally, can anyone suggest why the software used to access an Sd card over USB could not be used to access the SD slot? Wouldn't that solve Google's so-called security issues?

...and...

I use my right thumb to page forward on my kindle. I keep it resting lightly on the page forward button almost all the time. From a distance of a foot I am hard-pressed to spot movement when I click to the next page. How you can tell how fast they read without looking over their shoulder and watching the screen I don't know. I DO know that someone looking over MY shoulder would definitely slow my reading speed if not stop it entirely.
