On the seventh anniversary of Steve Jobs' death, we give you 7 times he served humanity and acted as an example to others

Re: Jobs: "Yous get ought for nouht in't life!"

I don't know. My own father abandoned his wife and three tiny children to go smoke dope in a state with lax child- support enforcement. While it was no picnic from my side (including the growing up on welfare), I am rather glad to have been able to grow up without that particular role-model in my life.

Man sues date for cinema texting fiasco, demands $17.31

My last date was so 'textual' that, sitting right next to her (waiting for the train home after a day out) I had to text her to have a sort-of conversation!! Keeping with her preferred mode of communication, I broke up with her by text (which in other circumstances I wouldn't consider doing) that evening.

Re: You've been "Googled"

Google-whacking, isn't it?

Woman makes app that lets people rate and review you, Yelp-style. Now SHE'S upset people are 'reviewing' her

I look forward to dragging Glenn Alexander (http://glennalexander.com/) 's reputation through the dirt on a long alcoholic, womanising, drug-fueled binge.

Not to mention the 24 Glenn Alexanders more prominent than me on LinkedIn.

How many on FaceBook? I'm not a member so can't tell. But I bet there are a lot.

How to vote.

I'm similar. Phrase it as:

1 - Major party likely to do slightly less damage to the country's future.

2 - Major party likely to do more damage to the country's future.

3 - Nut-jobs, religious extremists, etc.

It would be nice to have more options than those in the lower house.

Will be interesting

for people like me who don't have a family name at all (there is no legal requirement to have one in this country and I chose not to have one long ago and had my legal name ammended to suit). Plays havoc with various incompetently-implimented government IT systems. Sucks to be them!

I imagine...

...stickng a (big plastic) middle finger up at those adds may have been a good part of the inspiration for going this route.

If I look back on all the crap I learned at Buis-school,

It's not surprising I can hardly think at all.

And my lack of techie forsight rather hurt me,

I went and sent the whole $%^%$ company to the wall.

I work in a Creative Arts faculty at a university

I am the only person who wears a uniform (the one I used to wear when I was in the IT dept, with a new iron-on department label). It makes me stand out.

Been there, done that.

Not with games, but with Macintosh UI. Once screwed up a piece of paper and tosed it into the trash basket, realising as it flew that I wanted it back. My brain spent a good 2 seconds groping for the Undo menu item (those familiar with Macintosh -- can't speak for MacOS, I had moved to Linux by then -- will know that was a futile gesture anyway - you recover the trash via opening it, not an undo command).

Arround the same time, I was gettting up to 4 parallel dreams in separate 'windows'. Unlike what would happen if watching 4 movies in RL, the audio from them was percieved as distinct and separate streams, rather than an uninteligable mix!

I eased up on the computer work and spent a bit more time outside!

Go my uni!

Professor Abdesselam Bouzerdoum is one of my uni's (where I work, though I did graduate there many years ago too). The congrats to him from the VC came over the internal mail just as I was reading the Reg article.
