Probably the worst (best) example of H-1B abuse comes from Disney. They hired a full replacement of staff and made the departing (fired, dismissed, turfed, booted) IT staff train them. The employees sued but lost.

Maybe I'm a bit more paranoid than usual. Apart from "encrypted" or pay-channels there is no reason for a cable box since modern televisions can already decode the digital signal. So the companies are plainly greedy. But the darker side of that is with one box per set, the cable companies can monitor what the users watch, and then sell that data. I don't mind the small change for two boxes, but I do mind loosing the controls of my TV to block advertisement channels. These days most of what I watch is streamed anyway. TV is basically dead. </soapbox>
We here on the other side of the pond get more than just one "yellow pages" or phone book. A seemingly endless parade of phone books passes between my mailbox and recycle bin each year.
Honestly, the last time I used the local telephone provider AT&T phone book it was to prop open the back door.
All a STEM degree does is prove you are capable of learning. At least I've yet to do any tripple integrals at my dayjobben. It's all in expectation and drive. The female engineers around me are capable but some seem to lack self-confidence. They have to get over the idea that if they are blunt or demanding it's "that time othe month" in others eyes. Either press forward or fail.
The two that took my advice now make more than I do. :/ Yet I still mentor those that listen.
Thinking back to grade-school there were idiots I knew were going nowhere and those that did well. It was all about an active pursuit of education. But now that everyone is a special cookie and trophys get presented for existing, I fear for the future.
This is what happens when you don't have adequate password or system security and load dodgy OMG! I Saw what He did to .... malware. Some of life's little lessons are hard ones, eh. To be fair and equal, FaceB0rk needs to have better security on changing Admin settings. Challenge and Response for example.
