I always hated these super hard exams because it tests your ability to pass exams and not your actual ability in the subject. This is especially prevalent when comparing a non subjective subject like mathematics and say English.
I concede that if you know your subject you should be able to pass the exam , but that top 5%-10% that these Universities are looking for don't always think and articulate their knowledge like everyone else.
A student that loves the right or wrong aspect of mathematics and argued incessantly with every lecturer that when a question asks, "in your opinion..bla,bla, bla" that my answer can never be wrong, ever!
Paris - because the amount of money spent on her education makes it hard for me to believe shes that moronically stupid.
"I've started lying about my profession"
When I tell people I work in IT security they think I'm a security guard who watches CCTV and has a florescent yellow coat. Having to explain that I'm not a security guard and I do data governance, risk, control and threat mitigation is a long and strenuous conversation that normally end with "Ah, that sounds interesting"
It’s got to the point now that when asked I just say "I work with computers" but as soon as you say that you get the never ending friends of family and Joe from the hair dressers asking will you have a look at my PC, Laptop, WIFI router, mobile..........
IT has to be the only professions where people think you can help them out for free!
You wouldn't ask your builder friend to build you a wall for free or your sister's accountant husband to do your books for free. It just royally pisses me off to the point that all I say now is “You do know my daily rate is £500, right?"
and if you don't agree with it, then don't sign it!
That this is technically a form of price fixing where all telcos' have the same terms regarding mid term contract price changes is whats criminal.
What can the consumer do when all the houses conspire to stack the decks in their favor!
Do people not know that all decent stats since the early 1990 have a built in timer ?
I go to work at 6:30 so my heating comes on about 6am (if the temp is below 18.5C) so its nice and toasty for me, it then goes off at 7:30am
Magically it comes back on at 4:30pm (just before I get home at 5pm) and stays on until 10:30pm when I go to bed.
Whats even more magical is that I can set it up to be different for every day of the week, it also as a summer and winter mode. Also if I'm in the house all day, I can manually boost the heating if its cold.
People need to learn how to work standard house hold electrical items better, instead of being so completely moronic!!!!!
My bank asks me if I'm interested in internet banking every time a call them.
The irony is the people on the phone pushing internet banking are pushing people to a service that will make them redundant. *cough* idiots *cough*
I trust internet banking as much as I trust the village drunk with my car keys.
.......£300 is close to the price of Sky for a year + a free box and even if I do hate them, the Sky box is very very good.
I'm all for integrated boxes and such but, when you could get a good PC with built in tune for that kind of money - mmmeh
Mines the one with an atom + ion, duel dvb-s/2 and dvb-T/2 tuner with WMC, XBMC and bookmarks to iplayer and the like that cost £400, but can also send email, word process and access youporn. in my pocket (almost)
You need to be more abstract than that.
For (N)number of Pianos there is X number that will require tuning at any time, where Y = the number of piano tuners required to satisfy demand for pianos needing tuning.
So, as long as there are pianos to be tuned there will always be enough tuners to tune them :{)
I would write some formula, but cant be bothered.
I've been in one of their shops in HK.
When I asked about why such a shit phone cost so much, I was told about some concierge 24/7 service or other and what its make from.
I then replied "if I had a enough money to buy a £10k phone I be rich enough to employ a personal assistant 24/7 and gold or platinum plate an Iphone or Galaxy S3"
Its always the same -
- "I need a gun to protect my self because x,y,z might have a gun"
- "Russia have a really big bomb see we need a bigger bomb to stop them using their bomb"
If no one had guns you wouldn't need guns to protect against guns - Yes the UK has strict laws on guns so knife crime is really high - but no knife/golf club/ bat welding nut job has ever gone into a school or street and killed 10-100s of people. You can also run away from some one with a bat or knife not so much with a gun.
So tell me, what country is safer, the one where almost everyone can freely own a gun or the one where a tinny % can and are heavily controlled. If the USA had a gun amnesty type thing and had similar laws to the UK - violent crime deaths would drop by 90% over night.
