Not the same Atlas

Of course the current Atlas V is not the same as the Atlas that orbited John Glenn. The original Atlas was a 1 1/2 stage affair with 3 engines built by Rocketdyne; the current Atlas V uses engines derived from a Russian design.

The "single-level store" concept around which the S/38, AS/400 and i-series were built came from TSS/360 -- which was unfortunately way ahead of its time (and hardware capable of running it with decent performance).
