Which strongly suggests that Donald Trump thinks there is some kind of master-switch that can turn off parts of the internet, presumably based somewhere in Washington.
I think there is such a switch. In popular media it's a big red button and it requires two people with a key each to access. Used for retaliating to attacks of 99 rot luftballons.

Of course they realised. That's not what this is about.
They pulled the free storage and are now offering it back as long as you agree to them having access to your "profile, contacts and email addresses".
It's not a problem you don't have to bend over.
Just agree to give them the permission to view contact list and email addresses, but just don't keep any contact list or email addresses anywhere they can get at them. So, remove any Outlook, and don't use an MS email service.
In early radio much receiving gear was home made and a favourite kids project was to wrap wire round a pickle jar to build a long wave receiver that didn't need power. It could only drive audio through an earpiece though, and loudspeaker would need a powered amplifier circuit.
I think just about all the stories about people harvesting useful power from RF belong in the urban myth category.

The guys at my local Maplin are a good bunch. One looked at my shopping list and we got into a discussion about balanced and unbalanced audio cables, and when I explained what I was doing with the stuff he agreed with me. They do know their stuff and are most apologetic about the prices of some things.
I do wish the display shelves wouldn't fall apart when I touch something though.
Yes, about that time I was using the Maplin catalogue as a component data sheet, it had all the pin-outs and specs. A cut out page in the back had a form to hand write your part numbers and quantities and send off to Rayleigh. Them and the RadioShack/Tandy catalogue, hours of entertainment. Then I started work and discovered RS.
I think the Windows boys don't see those yellow shields, they use RDCMan tool to manage multi RDPs and I don't think 15 is considered a lot.
And they WSUS servers to automate the patching.

That's nonsense really, iPhones are screwed together, they disassemble entirely with screws. To separate the digitiser from the LCD requires a heat gun, but the replacement is dirt cheap.
iPods do not disassemble easily and will need a heat gun, i believe the iPad is the same, but the iPhone is definitely a screw together device and most repairs are simple stuff.
The curve of battery development over the years is becoming distorted lately, because only recently has the case to move away from fossil fuel as portable energy source become so lucrative. Whilst combustibles were relatively cheap, plentiful and had the existing distribution in place there was no urgency to go to electrical cells.
Now with the climate thing going on and the oil industry dove has returned to the ark with an olive branch, there are stupendous rewards waiting for the battery breakthrough. A serendipitous CERN discovery would be my bet.
I have both, one for work where I don't have a choice and a personal phone that I bought for myself.
The work one is latest specs and version and is a nightmare fussy pita where the OS intrudes and makes a nuisance of itself. I constantly curse it's irritations, failures and needy tinkering requirement.
My personal phone barely makes itself known, it does it's job - as a platform for the apps and messaging without me thinking about the phone or OS.
I'm not interested in marketing specs or silly pissing contests, I really am not interested in the phone, I just want to get on with the jobs I use it for.
That's why my personal phone is an iPhone 5.
Can it get and hold reasonable signal strength in fringe reception areas?
Can it survive being dropped from head height onto concrete?
Can it survive being rained on or dropped into a toilet so it has to be rinsed off?
Will the battery last between reasonable charge opportunities?
Can I read the display clearly in bright sunlight?
I actually have no interest in its relative benchmark score. I am interested in stuff that makes a real difference.

3 maps? What a ridiculous faff. It's 2013 and my £60 tomtom 8 years ago had the whole country in with nothing to do but switch on and go. Google have some quality maps, but it's a crap user system.
In fact it was Tesla's own boffins in California that calculated that 55 mile figure. If you look at the actual material presented you can see that the BBC was entirely in the right and that Tesla's PR people need replacing with people that can actually do the job. Top Gear were making a film, when you have a days shoot and people to pay you don't drive a car round and round for 55 miles just to waste time. No director would ever let that happen.
Surey they should have done some research into what Top Gear was like before they handed them a car to test? Every car gets similar treatment, but usually the toys stay in the pram.
