Yelp update ridicules Republican (ex)-hopeful Rick Perry

johnwerneken
Alert

You Go Perry!

So What. First, Perry is fair game, he's clearly crazy...after all, he's running for US President, and no sane person would have anything to do with voters in a country with universal adult suffrage and direct democracy (ideas from HELL).

Second, US politics went to HELL when TV came in, and no doubt is stuck there until TV goes, which hopefully I will live to see. Perry may have “good hair” for TV but he can’t do it.

Third, Perry makes sense, does as he says, and has done so with success on things that really matter, like education. So he’s OK in the brain, honesty, and skill department, leaving whether one approves of his goals, certainly a reasonable area for us to differ with each other. Unlike Abortion, Immigration, or Global Warming, real people care about education. (The nouns capitalized or not, as education is a real issue and the others, group identity mythological creatures).

Fourth, you could eliminate countless Federal agencies, and their functions as well, to the net benefit of all. The things worth doing number no more than five, altogether. I bet Perry could name all of those! Security; stable money; stable law; some help with infrastructure; some sort of safety net. That’s it. Like Washington had it: War; Treasury; Attorney General; Secretary of State. The once-in-a-while direct investments in infrastructure, Congress can approve, an office charged with causing more is more trouble than it is worth. Likewise with vouchers for the less well off so they can live indoors, eat, and be clothed, treated for illness, and educated as a rich country should afford all humans in its jurisdiction.

So I don’t give a rodent’s behind which or how many departments and functions Mr. Perry or anybody else says they will abolish, because for the most part, they all should be. And if any of the four necessary ones were decimated or abolished, the State itself would cease to exist before the decimation or abolition were accomplished.

This is more like using the toilet than it is like rocket science, it’s pretty obvious stuff. Oh I forget. We don’t teach Latin nowadays, so human beings evidently feel excused from demonstrating any of what Homo sapiens is supposed to mean.

US isdoomed

Weird. Boss offers to pay employees to encourage employees in general to follow normal customer service rules. An environment hostile to those who refuse to attend to customers or to follow company rules results, and some quit. Unemployment rules that they are without work for no fault of their own? This is nuts.

We would not have these toys without microsoft apple the old ibm google oracle facebook. And all the software from all of them was and remains basicly a plot to sieze the Earth, worthy of profound distrust. Browsers in particular are like that, offered free with hidden pitfalls.

Computer sim explains why hippies became extinct

johnwerneken
Mushroom

backwards

Actually you got it totally backwards. When there is permanent scarcity people share or the tribe casts them out. When change is possible those who bring the change rule the tribe and the tribe extinguishes competing egalitarian tribes whenever it meets them. Very simple. I'm astounded anyone got paid to research this with a sim. It's been researched continuously since Cr-Magnon technology was invented lol.

DUH. When nothing CAN be changed, maybe 15,000 years ago everywhere, egalitarianism made sense. Not since Cro-Magnon technology, or agriculture, or civilization, or industry, or information technology. What works is what is right. Whether one blames evolution or God, it's still true.

Yes there were egalitarians once...they became extinct and deservedly so

Apple victorious: Courts deny hackintosher's final plea

johnwerneken
Thumb Down

terrible court, predictable decision

No one has enforced anti-trust except against enemies since at least Eisenhower, maybe never. Perhaps we should change the law; if it has any excuse for being a law then it applies to Apple. In spades.

And...that Court is the worst Court in the western world. I'd appeal to the Supremes.

Jobs...is anti-Jobs except he was and remains pro-Steve Jobs. lol.

Nice El Reg and HideMyAss are honest and law-abiding, unlike a lot of so-called hackers

A hacker used to mean one who could event ways of getting something done with a computer, whether a kludge (initially) or a brilliand contribution. Now it simply means someone who uses a computer in ways that are not 'ordinary'. El Reg and HideMyAss are being truthful and consistent on this. Unlike a lot of BS one sees posted by todays' hackers about this and many other topics as well, all over the thoroughly poluted internet.

As a former employee I got useed to getting such of the products as I desired for free...designer samples and the like. Quality of product is typically quite good. HP, Microsoft dumped from Dow Jones 'green' list

Sustainability is a Crock

Sustainability is a Crock and $8,000,000,000 is peanuts the pool is 1000 times that size. Why keep doing things whose results are unsatisfactory? THAT is the true meaning of Sustainability: staying in a rut. Especially with technology globalization and investment from increased world savings making energy and resources cheaper and more abundant every day, and environmental and social costs less every day.

'

Except when the Popes of Green Jihad get their dirty bloody hands on levers of power, then we get chit like Ethanol: works badly as intended if at all; expensive; starves the poor, raises all grain prices and meat prices too world wide, poisons land, rivers, and the whole Gulf of Mexico.

Green energy and jobs will cripple the UK economy

johnwerneken

DUH all that "green" stuff is really chit and colored like it too

The human race is up to its arse in energy and in resources, and needs to keep developing same so that more humans can enjoy the life most REG readers can take for granted. Of course experimenting with what now and for the forseable future is our only Planet is problematic, but most of such as are complained about, if one examines the complaints, most of the complaints are without foundation and most of the complainants are just more interested parties with a very selfish interest as motivation, albeit an emotional self interest in most cases not a financial one.

The more legitimate complaints are still hard to take seriously or to address even if one agreed, since the complainants- when it comes to so-called "Green" issues - NEVER spend much effort presenting cost and benefit tradeoffs of alternatives spannining all the options including "DO MORE OF IT", "STAY THE COURSE", "U-TURN", and true options.

I personally thing the Greenies are my enemy in WWIV, just like the Imperialists in WWI, the Fascists in WWII, and the Communists in WWIII - all of the first three wars being won by me and people like me by the way, so Greenies beware! I bite as well as flame.

Kabam! Facebook gamers fume after script deletes fake stuff

johnwerneken

whocares

Kabam games are well intentioned, blending puzzle competition socilizing. But like all (afaik) internet firms they announce and market and then play catchup getting things to work with greater balance and reliability. New things which backfire for many players and sometimes for Kabam as well are pretty common. Generally patient players are made whole and then some. Can't swear if all the WHINER types are as well served, imho they may not deserve to be.

Where the social network is kept going by involved players the games stay fun and the newer bells/whistes work out ok after time. So on the whole I recommend them.

BUT...

"BETA when DEAD" remains their motto, the games never quite stabilize, don't expect it any time soon...

Earth may be headed into a mini Ice Age within a decade

Mr john werneken

hmmm. Disparate facts and theories create no change in the blind unscientific enthusiasts on BOTH sides of the "climategate", so why would new facts and theories make any difference in public policy? The concept that what we do in the real world should accord with our deepest "beliefs", this is the ultimate evil.Once people imagine that others should do right and not wrong (as defined by them) we are off and running..its such a bad trip the alleged destination does not matter.

Facebook under fire over Israel, transgender bullying

johnwerneken

magenta man - hater of all things either/or green or politically correct

I can see why those ridiculed in the three referenced items might not care for it, I do not enjoy ridicule either.

BUT I SEE NO REASON WHY ANYONE ELSE SHOULD GIVE A D!@#@.

NONE of the allegedly "offensive" items were offensive to ME. And I dislike bullies, like gay and transgender people, and have a view of the middle east that no Arab AND no Israeli is likely to appreciate. So the issues concern me.

WHAT CONCERNS ME MORE is the idea that Facebook would throttle free speech. (Of course they would they are Americans; Americans will do ANYTHING for a nickel, starting with throwing free speech overboard to please the 1d10t's amongst us. They are still id10t's whether they are 8 of them or 8 billion of them, THIRD PEOPLE OPINIONS SHOULD IN ALL CASES BE IGNORED ON ALL SUBJECTS!!!!)

More than that, I am ASTOUNDED that any substantial AND rational number of suggestions might arise to take down any of those pages.

MOST OF ALL I am flabbergasted that the Reg reports this asinine baloney as if it might matter to anyone with half a brain.

johnwerneken

why should they take down anything, unless they themselves don't like it?:

SCREW the opinions of people. They gotta hear and see what others want to say and show whether they like it or not. Facebook is just trying to keep their god d*** cvustomers happy. I am one too and I DO NOT LIKE power defering to the masses. Period. The other way around is not good either. The freedom to OFFEND PEOPLE is the most precious freedom of all. I say NUKE the people who ant to censor things, see how they like it. You too, personally, if you support censorship!

If people commit murder on the grounds that they were provoked, I say Kill them too.

Why not?

What goes around will come around.

THAT'S MY POINT!!

johnwerneken

Mr Magenta hater of all things Green or Politically Correct

YEA lets incite people to murderous rage I am all for it. Then we know FOR SURE who to throw out of the gene pool. I mean it, NO speach except what causes BODILY HARM (and not by retaliation) should be limited.

Who cares how vile the comment one is not required to endorse by the act of hearing or reading.
