Re: What the fuc*k, Lewis???

sure as sh*t smells if it had been sponsored by John Smiths, developed by BAe Systems and he now wanted to divert money from space exploration into keeping foxes and travellers out of Surrey then yeah, Lewis would be alright with that

Once upon a time....

Every time in the last 60 years a new electrical generation source has come online then the infrastructure to connect it to the grid has been paid for by whom?

When the Nuclear stations were built, was the infrastructure in place already to link the remote locations that these scary beasts required (?), dont think so. who paid for that?

When the hydro units came online, again in remote locations due to the geography, who paid for that?

Clue, it wasn't the frickin Leprechauns

Shite

So the Ausies are flying them with no avionics s/w is it?

We can't afford to build our own kit anymore.

Everything Jaguar and after has been a pigf*** kit wise, joint venture is just a barrel of compromises. The only JV that has worked for us was the Harrier AV-8B refresh in conjunction with McD-Doug.

Suggest we do what the rest of sensible NATO does and buy license built US or Brasilian (gasp) kit, get 2nd hand carriers from the US with proper power plants, and save a fortune.

Yes we won't be able to design and build another combat aircraft ourselves, but really, do we see us being in another conventional conflict in the future? And the money we save could be ploughed back inot the remaining manufacturing sector and boost growth.

BAe will continue to be listed on the London Exchange, pay tax here, and sell to pretty much anyone they want to (preferably US as they can pay their bills (atm))

With the best will in the world

It was all going so, well until the bottom of page 2, then the deep seated service rivallry of the author, then UK Kit bashing crept in and it was back to normal.

And as for Bumpy Cat, how about we strip all the aircraft from the FAA/AAC and give them to the RAF, but but but I can hear it now.

The RAF can fly off Carriers/assault carrier/destroyers/frigates, and out of Mud/concrete, so why is it that the RN and Army need their own air arms? Oh thats right, empire building
