Troll it your way: Burger King ad tries to hijack Google Home gadgets

EzJ

The thought that now saying something could be considered unauthorised use of a computer, frankly makes my brain want to implode. If I announce "Ok Google" in a high street should I be charged for "hacking" into untold mobile phones? Absolutely insane.

Dotcom 'saved' Xmas for Xbox – but no one can save Sony's titsup PlayStation Network

EzJ

Incorrect

I was disconnected from PSN twice Christmas day for minutes. Apart from that, psn has been fine. I'm online as I type this and so are many of my friends. The author is talking rubbish.

Paintballs proposed as defense against ASTEROID ATTACK

Re. "But more importantly..."

On the grounds that the asteroid may harbour life forms , I believe it should be afforded the same privacy as we expect. This would rule out any kind of tracking or targeted advertising. Whether or not this would have a positive impact on the end users remains to be seen ;P

1600 x 900

I just wanted to say that having used a laptop with a 1920 x 1200 resolution for quite a few years, I can honestly say I seriously regret asking for it and would not opt for one again.

I have the Compaq 8710w which has a larger 17" screen but in my opinion is still not a large enough screen to run that resolution. I immediately noticed how much more eyeball strain / pain I got from using it.

Oh god, did I just say that. It's true...I'm, I'm getting old....nooooooo.

I'm sure I am now considerably more blinder thanks to my laptop...but I digress ;P

Windows Phone 8 to get NFC, HD and Skype

@Graham / JDX

Graham, JDX is a software developer and he has not heard of this problem. I think it must be you, ya rookie. Oh and me, the problem has annoyed me on more than one occasion :s

T-Mobile hails first 'truly unlimited' smartphone tariff

@AC 10:49

I cannot understand why so many people have started to think like this. If a customer has paid for an unlimited service, there is no such thing as "abusing it". If the infrastructure is incapable of handling unlimited data then the provider should not sell 'unlimited' packages, simple.

Scalextric restarts space race with Star Wars craft

EzJ

Hmmmm

Am I the only person on the planet who thought T.C.R was better than Scalextric in just about every way possible (probably explains why they are no longer in production). A Speeder Bike T.C.R. set, now that would be something I would buy in a heartbeat...for the little one of course...or jam car Tie Fighters :D

Virgin Media broadband goes titsup for 3 hours

EzJ

Every cloud has a silver lining...

I noticed that I had no internet connection around 7.30pm yesterday when I tried to play Battlefield 3 on the PS3. After rebooting my wrouter around 8.00pm everything gradually came back alive. The great thing was that there seemed to be an awful lot of instances of people just stood still in Battlefield 3 meaning I managed to unlock 2 new guns by killing them all :D

As other posters have mentioned, I cannot even remember the last time I had internet connection problems with VM and I have been with them for over 10 years.

Actually getting Virgin to do anything for you though, that is a completely different kettle of fish. When I called the televised number to upgrade my tv package I was told that I had called the wrong department :s I was passed to a second department who only managed to wipe my entire package. The third department managed to get me up and running again. I really would have thought that the departments you call to try and give them more money would be the ones that run most efficiently but this is most definately not the case with VM :s I prefer it like that though to any alternative ;)

PlayStation Network downloads limited to two devices

EzJ

@Greg J Preece

I'm not sure what you meant by *use* but I have logged onto my friends PS3 and downloaded all my psn games. He can now play them whenever he wants to even though he is logged in as himself. I can still play the same games at the same time at home. In other words we currently share what we buy.

I suspect you meant that you are not meant to do this but you certainly can do it.

Thumb Up

Not so bad...

I actually think this is quite reasonable. I have only just started taking advantage of this function and to be honest I was amazed I was able to do it at all.

"If you wanna do a cop's job then become a cop, not a vigilante. At least, then, you'll have a better idea of the law and how to apply it!"

Sound advice but what do you do if you want to protect and serve the public???

Personal data blaggers should go to jail, MPs say

Making the punishment more severe is all well and good. However, it seems to be a bit pointless when the most guilty parties never seem to be...guilty.

Currys, PC World websites slated by punters

EzJ

Huh?

I'm quite stunned at that result. I'm not a particular fan of any of the high street stores but I have to my amazement found Currys to be the cheapest store on a number of occasions recently (as cheap as my usual online haunts).

In contrast I find John Lewis's site to be slow and way over priced. For example the WD MyPassport 500gb drive is £49 at Currys and £69 at John Lewis?

Sony turns to augmented reality to sell tellies

Simply Awesome

I really do hope this becomes much more of a trend, especially with furniture manufacturers. I really could have done with that the past year or so whilst trying to decorate my house :)

Microsoft rolls out One Big Windows strategy

Hmmmm

Why is it I always seem to be reading articles about what Microsoft WILL be doing? It would be nice if they actually just did half of what they say instead of telling us that they will be doing it.

LG debuts eye-tracking no-specs 3D screen

I must be blind to...

I love my new 3d tv and quite often just sit there gawping in amazement at how my flat panel tv appears to be a relatively deep box. As somebody else mentioned though, I have yet to see anything actually come out of the screen. I can see the 3d effect and it does look stunning but it always appears to be happening inside the tv.
