BBC shuts off iPlayer to UK VPNs, cutting access to overseas fans

John Nieurzyla

BBC kow tawing to tories.

I believe it is part of a coordinated effort to demean and cause annoyance to UK Expats in general, after all which other country charges 150% in health care charges for expats who apply for treatment, even though most have retired and have paid all their lives for the right to free NHS treatment.

Tories??? they are scrapings of the water closet floor, that even the sewage farms would refuse.

WD adds Miracast support to feed-slinging tellybox gizmo

Prefer Asus

They do not mention the big problem of the units getting too hot, when its switched off in standby mode, the unit does get very hot. The local WD help line is responsive, and will replace units under warranty, but no one is very knowledgeable to technical questions.

It does not mention if it has hdmi connection? or updated software for subtitles ie, manually altering the subtitle to delay or advance to speech, or select the correct subtitle file.

I will be going back to Asus.

GoPro's new lens: Like a GOOGLE STREETMAPS car... for your life

FAIL

Dont bother

Unfortunately, if its Google, then the odds of it being supported etc in the future is very dismal. It has the reputation of starting something, but never completing it. ie. Google Earth, its started about 14 years ago? and 2/3rds of Philippines is still waiting to be covered, and that 1/3rd that was covered most of it has not been renewed, so the views are over 7 years old, absolutely useless unless you live in Manila, it appears nothing else counts.

When the storm happened in Cebu area last year, we asked for upto date images to assist in locating and accessing the outside areas, All that Google released were two images of the ocean near here!!!

And Philippines is not the only country that was not covered correctly.

Google deletes Maps satellite photos of 14-year-old's unsolved murder

Google sh*te

Google never finish what they promise when starting projects.

Google Earth was supposed to map the earth, and then update these images every 3-4 years, well Philippines has never been completed, about 1/3 has been done, and most of these images are 10 to 13 years old.

Now with all these terrible tragedies happening here, there are no maps of roads systems we can use, as they have never been mapped, They did update 3 sections after the recent typhoon, but two sections were of a different island which was not badly damaged, it was seriously over exposed and the majority of it was the ocean. Totally useless.

But how many times has the US been scanned??

And Bing maps are even less apparent....

Not surprised

To be honest I feel it is their own fault, they never listened to what their customers wanted, but though they were market leaders, but were blinkered by their own life style, did n ot notice what was going on around them till it was too late. Shame as I used to like the handset, but the software let them down.

Microsoft hits DHL with $2m lost Xbox action

Thumb Down

Its about time DHL got sued.

Its about time DHL got their assed kicked, I live in Asia, and when I order items from abroad it has to be delivered by courier, otherwise it get "lost".

Businesses designate who the courier is unfortunately so I get stuck with DHL due to the price, the packages arrive in Manila, then it can take 7 days to travel 50 kms down the road to here.

Why, cos to save money they use local delivery companies and then it goes walkabouts, they do not have tracking here, customer service is a laugh, they never respond, nothing is ever done, You can't complain to DHL fatherland, they will not respond either, as I am outside Germany. Having lost countless deadlines on delivery and the occassional package, I am so pleased this has happened, I only wish they would read this as well.

Sony to bring E Ink eBook reader to UK in September

Paris Hilton

Why?

I read a lot of books, and I find that the prices from the Ebook shops is comparable if not more expensive than the local shops selling paperbacks, but I do not use a book reader but my Ipod, which fits in my pocket, can access the internet on the street, connects to my pc, do my emails, can be used late at night to read without the light on, and costs less than most of these so called specialist items.

But it would also be nice to have Hilton at night as well.

Pentax Optio Z10 digital camera

Not happy

I have an optio bought 6 months ago, it did not last two weeks, the rear view screen cracked, I'm still unable to get it repaired, no spare screens available apparently.

I also have a pocket kodak with rear screen, which has been in the same pocket for 2 years its screen never damaged, I wonder if in-built non-warranty damage???

As usual no response or comment from Pentax.

So I will not touch another pentax with rear screen just in case. Let buyer beware.

Cherry picking

Typical UK, cherry picking the bits it likes from the EU, it should either be in or out, it just shows its like the US government where it has more faces then Big Ben, then always moving the goal posts afterwards.

GPS

I was hoping it was Sony getting its act together and making with a GP{S add on more true mobility and help. It one of the few with a decent battery life where it would actually work.
