Microsoft embraces Apple Mac loyalists – as long as they're using its software

Re: a healthier mix of Windows and Apple Mac device

I’m no MS fanboy but although it has its problems, if you have to use Exchange, Outlook is actually a reasonably good email client.

I don’t think you need to worry about them coming for your raspberry pi… for now. But if they do offer a way of managing any OS platform from one “easy” to use management portal then you know management will go for it. Think of the savings!

Re: "it has earmarked “significant investment” for FY24 towards customer experience and branding"

Exactly, instead of pissing money on a rebrand, just offer good value, then people will come. £x million spent on a rebrand won’t give them long term customers once they realise that better value is to be had elsewhere. I’ve never picked anything based on how cool their advertising/branding is. I want value for money!

Re: Good.

What chance do you think there is that the headcount reduction is anywhere else than the people who do the actual work?

Splendid fellows

It was specifically Blackadder that taught me that when we do it, it’s ok!

So you see, Blackadder, Field Marshall Haig is most anxious to eliminate all these German spies.

Filthy hun weasels, fighting their dirty underhand war!

And fortunately, one of our spies...

Splendid fellows, brave heroes risking life and limb for Blighty!

Re: McAfee (and Dell) are scum

Failing the useless McAfee MCRT or whatever they call it, nuking it from orbit is the only way to be sure!

Apple's macOS 12 adds improved virtualization though no sign of anything like Boot Camp on M1 silicon

Re: No one needs Bootcamp anymore

Me! Although it’s admittedly on an old MacBook Pro. It’s no longer supported by Apple and my wife has her new MacBook Pro to work with. I stuck Windows* on it and thanks to the driver package from Boot Camp it works a treat. Performs better than my old HP laptop and would run rings round a cheap £400 entry from PC World. It’s got a good few years of life left in it and it’s been saved from an unnecessary trip to the dump.

*I know I could have put a Linux distro on there easily too.

Re: The stupid, the lazy and the first mover

Really? You can turn the tv on by clapping? Ok, even if something is sitting about listening for a clap, turning the plug on on any TV I’ve ever had simply puts it on standby. It doesn’t actually turn the TV on and even if it did what a useless feature as you’d need that pesky remote control to actually pick a channel. Clapping to dim the lights, fire up a bit Barry White and light the fire on the other hand...

Microsoft confirms pursuit of TikTok after Satya Nadella chats to Donald Trump

FAIL

“Don’t worry Donald, we’ll take care of it”

It’ll soon be dead, not because of anything that fool Trump does, but because MS will do what comes naturally to them and kill it in 6 months when they make changes to “consumer-centric features and functionalities”.

WTF?

Why

Why would that be embarrassing? Generally stock is "beeped" through, or scanned, not only calculate the total but as part of stock control as well. I can honestly say that if I worked in a shop and had to serve you I'd be fairly unmoved by your amazing maths skills.

It might also be worthwhile remembering that the next time you tell your excellent teller story that nobody cares, everyone makes mistakes from time to time. Oh and that it's not excellent.
