Faxing hell: The cops say they would very much like us to stop calling them all the time

Re: I called the cops

Within the United kingdom in the old telephone days within the parent exchange level 99 was not used for a code to link to another exchange. As the satellite exchanges used 9 to reach the parent. So 999 worked for them, while on the parent 99 worked!

Director systems like London had different criteria.

Re: Embarrassing ...

Croome Court and Witley Court are both well worth a visit.

The problem with Croome, for these without transport, is the two mile walk from the bus stop. While Witley has a bus service that will drop you off at the gate, admittedly it is not a frequent service.

I did know people who worked at Defford, but that is many years ago.

Digital radio may replace FM altogether - even though nobody wants it

DAB - no thank you!

In my area DAB radio receiption in the house is intermittent! Nor does the service include local BBC stations I want to listen to.

The sound quality of those stations that can be received on DAB is also inferior to FM transmissions.

I have not been convinced of any advantage of DAB.

FAIL

DAB is a waste of air space!

The service provided on DAB in my area does not have any local stations.

Of the stations that can be heard there are only two I would care to listen to but the audio quality is considerately worse than the FM transmissions.
