Save Money - Do More Faster - Forget The Rules

Cut services, increase burden, push push push for more more more and...

Bang, something breaks.

Solution (of sorts)...fire the heads of all state institutions that pass the buck downwards. Then imprison the politicians that pushed the buttons and feel it's appropriate to watch the lower ranks loose pay, jobs, etc. while the heads of heads of heads get more and more for savings made Ad infinitum.

Throw in staff that have (believe me, at normal pay levels anyway) been paid less than the private sector would pay them (so say those that award the pay increases), but that it's worth it because they are doing a great service for the people (who appreciate it., not) and there is a good pension as a thank you, at the end...oh, maybe not. Cheap? Not at $60

A $60 second hand laptop is hardly cheap, especially if it looked well used and not just in the serial number area (easy to disfigure without drawing attention, I'd guess). I could even fall short of being a bargain if older than 18 months, but I can't judge that without more info.

The new 'owner' may have been naive about the hardware, but none of us know her understanding of PC's etc.

The judge, I assume as pointed out by others, has taken offense at the way the enforcement people involved, decided to play with her essentially private communications (yes they are in law).

I'd say they were somewhat more naive if they thought they would not get challenged and I'm very glad the gal and her man have bothered to bring this to court for proper consideration.

Pretty brave really.

Supplier v Customer. Not always by the rules, especialy if you are Mhard

Seem to remember the contractor for OS2 decided to copy the idea for their own OS and make a pigs ear of OS2 on the way (surprise), which was eventually cleaned of the contractors bad habit's (no doubt within contract tolerances). but too late to make regain the lost' kudos (OS2 Warp, IMHO was better than it's contractors OS and by a fairly large margin).

So, not all contacted suppliers play by the 'rules'.

Big Brother

Creationism is Right?

Prove it!

Without referring to an old book which just maybe was written as a moral fibre guide, by a few undoubtedly well meaning men (so no female point of view there then and immediately half'sh of the population not represented, some would say the better half) about a small number of people within a particular religion that represented a small percentage of the world population at the time.

Their morals and ideals are things you either feel are right and proper, or not, but I for one know of no proof that the 'geological' content is in any way true nor that it needs to be, to support the morals it prescribes.

Pretty soon, they will be telling us the universe rotates around the Earth and you'll go blind if you, oh what's that word that can also describe a fool...

For Music, before file sharing there were Tapes (remember them?)

That's how those short on cash got their music free.

If the cash was there and the song was good enough, the record was purchased, otherwise, it was taped from the radio and the missing or spoken-over intro and tail was ignored because it didn't matter enough.

Back then the moguls cried foul and predicted the death of music, but it didn't die.

When CD's arrived, they told us they cost more to make so we payed more, until the smoke that hid the truth cleared.

Now they say file sharing over the web is killing them.

Mmmmm. The industry doth protest too much, methinks.

Give consumers value for money, give the writers and musicians a better deal, take less for doing so little. Otherwise, just wait 'till the sharers get prosecuted...Detecting what's shared will then either get harder to recognise and/or go via thumb drives etc. and the sharers will feel more satisfaction, the more they do it, because they will 'know' someone the 'evil money grabbing industry moguls prosecuted' and they will want revenge.
