Apple is like HITLER says Chinese billionaire

nastybarsteward

And the Western Countries are better because.....

So China watches it's populace as much as possible and does so in quite an open way. US/UK have been caught doing similar, but have tried to do it in a clandestine way.

China imprisons people on supposed charges that seem paper thin at best. US imprisons people in Guantanamo bay for up to 13 years without charge,

China is a hugely growing economy. US, if it was a business, would have had the administrators called in on it long ago.

I think that the phrase "people in glass houses" comes to mind here.

Still, even with all of that, and understanding the cultural differences, using Hitler as imagery for Apple is going too far.

Re: TD 'shuffling' the numbers.

Yeah of course. And only 2+ years for the people in FL to "discover" the issue. Definitely on the ball, aren't they ;)

Re: TD 'shuffling' the numbers.

So that means that the guys in Florida are either incompetent, or turned a blind eye for whatever reason. How does that make them any less culpable?

Re: Not Apple's fault underage kid lied to get job

I don't agree.

If I employ someone in the UK and they have used false ID to pretend that they have the right to work in the UK, I'm sure that the UKBA wouldn't say "It's OK, all bets are off!"

I trade with lot's of Chinese companies, and if I ever find that they are doing something that they shouldn't, I have a zero tolerance policy and never trade with them again.

This has meant that I now have a group of extremely professional suppliers who ensure that the standards I expect across the board are adhered to, because they know that if they slip up and I find out, they will lose significant business. I have been caught out by unscrupulous suppliers in the past, and they are not now trading with me. Obviously I tell them before I agree a contract of supply what I expect, and they know that they only get 1 chance.

Unfortunately, when dealing with Chinese companies, (and I know that this is going to sound terrible) there does seem to be more than the average amount of chancers. When buying from China, in my experience you cannot be too careful. For example, I insist on CE certification through a recognised testing lab, and I personally check every CE certificate, with the test documentation, to confirm that the certification is correct. It is amazing how often Chinese companies will send you doctored documentation. So, if as a foreigner I know that fake documentation is rife, and I have quickly learned what to look for and how to establish if it is correct or not, I do not think that there can be any excuses from an organisation based in China to say "Well they had the correct ID!".

WTF?

What I find shameful is that in amongst all of these comments about how Apple get much worse press than anyone else, and how it is not unknown for people to die at work, no one is mentioning the fact that this poor child was underage.

Not for the first time has Apple been linked with underage workers, however that fact appears conveniently lost in these posts!

Thumb Down

Misleading title

"Snap-happy blogger babe posts catcalling blokes' mugshots online "

At the risk of sounding "cave-person" like, I really don't think that the word "babe" in the title is a fair description of the snap-happy Ms Price. Maybe her inner-ugliness is showing through.

Re: I really hate to say this...

'Who am I kidding? MS don't want to give the users the best experience, they want the users to give them all of their money. '

Thing Apple figured out they they haven't is if you do the former, the latter happens organically.

Oh yes, the maps fiasco, recent updates killing hardware, price fixing court cases etc etc. Definitely giving users the BEST experience!

Re: "better to use an OS people actually want to buy"

Interesting to know how many of the "informed" comments, by Anonymous Cowards and others, are made after actually using a Windows Phone device properly. I get the feeling that many are just regurgitating other viewpoints, or looking at reviews, before "advising" others in an attempt to present an image of "look how great I am".

Yes, from a technical viewpoint there is much that can be done on Android that isn't as easy on other operating systems. However from a slickness and usability viewpoint, I find my family members and friends love the OS compared to IOS and Android. I own 2 x Android devices, 1 x iPhone, 1 x Windows Phone 7.5, and 1 x Windows Phone 8, so at least I have tried each of those for myself.

Each to their own of course, however unless you have actually used a Windows Phone 8, any comment made is pretty worthless.

(And yes, I fully expect this post to be down-voted by the Android and Apple fanatics/trolls. For info, my main phone is Android, so I am not anti-Android in any way. I just believe that for many less technical people, the Windows Phone offers a lot, and has it's place.)

Wi-Fi security befuddles clueless home users

WTF?

BT Homehub

I have a friend that asked me to link their Toshiba Satellite Pro to their BT Homehub, as they couldn't get the 2 to talk. Try and I might I couldn't get them to talk either, and tried to link them together with every security type I could find on the box, WEP, WPA, WPA2 etc. I tried them all and nothing allowed the connection to take properly. In the end I tried with no security, and the 2 connected straight away no issues. So sometimes the user has no choice but to leave it unsecured, and maybe get a different router!
