Vaping on the NHS? Don't hold your breath

Re: "does this read more like an ad-icle"

Pure coffee?? XD

If you mean caffeine, it can kill you just as easily. The LD50 of caffeine in humans is 150–200mg per kilogram of body mass.

I needed 35mg before i even started to forget about smoking. The 20mg limit is too low for heavy smokers.

Vaping ads flout EU rules, even if to promote healthier lifestyles

Re: So presumably Niquitin and that ilk...

Pharma dont make that much off NRT, but they make a shit tonne treating the morbidity from smoking. They really dont like vaping.

Re: opponents are using guerrilla tactics

Worse, Pharma.

UK government's war on e-cigs is over

Re: We already know.

"Certain flavorings contain diacetyl and acetyl propionyl which give a buttery taste.[31] Diacetyl and acetyl propionyl are associated with bronchiolitis obliterans.[31] A 2015 review recommended for specific regulation of diacetyl and acetyl propionyl in e-liquid, which are safe when ingested but have been associated with respiratory harm when inhaled."

Sorry, the studies havent stood up to scrutiny. Besides anything else, the levels are 100-750 times less than combusted tobacco, and no one ever got popcorn lung from smoking.

Some flavours like custard did contain small amounts of diacetyl, they have since been reformulated to remove all but trace amounts. As part of MHRA testing, eliquids must be free of diacetyl and aldehydes before being allowed to be sold.

Re: Just wait

"Sure as anything in twenty or thirty years we'l discover that sucking vape juice into your lungs over the long term gives you some kind of nasty disease."

Something 'orrible like a terminal case of old age without morbidity. Just wait, they will be sorry.

Re: We already know.

"There's already been the case of the caramel flavour that's carcinogenic when heated and inhaled, but perfectly safe when flavouring food."

Any more info on this? Which brand and tested by who?

Re: Jesus, NO!

"In a few years we may find out what the effect of super-heating a mixture of nicotine plus cheap synthetic flavourings is."

We already know. Compared to smoking the harm reduction is no a brainer those wanting to switch. For bystanders, it may be annoying to some, but there is no level of risk, zip, zilch, none.

If people with COPD can vape away quite happily, i would think even asthma sufferers would not be adversely affected by the vapour beyond a psychosomatic effect.

Big Pharma wrote EU anti-vaping diktat, claims Tory ex-MEP

Nitrosonicotines are a result of burning tobacco, hence why vaping nicotine doesnt have the same risk profile.

O2 touts OTT tariffs for Nexus 4 exclusive

Price isnt so bad, only £155 over buying sim free. What stinks is the 1gb for that price, should be 5gb.

Paying £5pm for 300/300/3gb, so no way am i signup up for anything that changes that deal. For new smartphone users this deal isnt so bad, but wait a month for the other carriers to jump on board, should be down to £25 in no time.

T-Mobile puts 'Full Monty' tariff on diet

Negotiating a better deal at the end of the contract seems to be a way of getting good deals. Currently on 300/300/3GB/Tether on main line and 10GB/Unrestricted on second line. Both cost me £5 each on Tmobile.

Suck it up for the first 18months and then do some dealing.

Thats pretty pricey, got the same deal with a C7 for £5pm. (3GB/300/300)

YouView will launch this Spring, says TalkTalk

Means a lot of stuff not able to be currently broadcast because of lack of spectrum can now be available. Plus its an open platform that anyone can join.

Thumb Up

Hopefully Sky will show the F1 channel soon as its up an running, but more likely next year. Either way, it would make it a must have purchase for me. That and some lesser known IPTV offerings would be very welcome.

Nokia Lumia 800

Sign of the times..

Interesting to read about how the live tiles and transitions become tiresome quickly, i did wonder if this would be the case when i first saw the OS. There was spate of attempts at fancy UI's a few years back, but experienced users quickly pushed back and it was quietly dropped.

Seems MSFT didnt get the memo or didnt care, opting instead for initial impact at the POS over substance. Despite this, i think it will do well.

The N9 will do me for now, as WP lacks power features like decent multitasking. Maybe next year.

If shes ok with Symbian, maybe get a Nokia 701. It looks like Android now with Belle and has all features shes used to.
