Microsoft on the Threshold of a new name for Windows next week

Doors?

Too Jim Morrison? Too obvious?

Trails? Trials? Traits?

How about shards?

Sod it, I'm not playing anymore (said Bill and Paul).

Too many question marks, not enough snaaare-roll-boom-tish.

Bash bug zappa!

Bash source code is as obscure as a Zappa reference, and thus, safe from regular day to day attacks from the central scrutinizer, thrust forth in tiny paragraphs.

Microsoft cranks out Internet Explorer 10 preview

Unhappy

I'm slightly confused?

What (exactly) did the IE10 preview reveal? What features do Microsoft bring to the party? Is there any further support of CSS3? Is there better HTML5 support? Does it come with a free bee sting prevention routine? What does IE10 bring? Is the JS engine MORE JQuery friendly? none of the above? so many question marks!

Either I'm dyslexic or the article was a diet tofu burger. I feel empty and hate my life!

Well done Ruskies!

I reckon Russian should be (hand on heart) super proud of this milestone.

Sure ... Soviet history is spotty ... but this is an unequivocal triumph for humanity .

I hope his descendants (if any?) are aware of the world's admiration and appreciation.

From an ocker Aussie ... good on ya's .. ya commie buggers!

$25 for an eternity of Mother-in-law styled nagging?

If given an informed choice, who would choose a $25 discount for constant advertising nagware?

Probably my mother-in-law. She seems to be in-tune with the Kindle-Way.

Screw that. I'd rather spend more and keep my sanity (what's left of it). *twitches*

Overbuild threat drove NBN decision: Conroy

The Rolls Royce of Broadband!

I'm not sure why so many Australians are against Australians getting the best of the best, perhaps it's an inferiority complex borne out of convict heritage, or maybe simply noisy Sydney/Melbourne lucky folks with decent ASDL2+ coverage?

Paul Turner makes a few good points ... we really don't know the full advantages of the NBN, but we can accurately predict the disadvantages of NOT having the NBN ... status quo. That's not acceptable from my POV.

Telstra has been a thorn in our side for decades, I'm glad Conroy (for once!) has something intelligent to say.

Australia, give up your fixed broadband!

WTF?

Turnbull Time Machine

I live in an inner city suburb of Hobart and ASDL 2+ is "not available" in my area. Without the NBN, I'm going to be stuck with this hopeless speed (256k/64k) for the next decade. Even with the NBN I'll be waiting 2 or 3 years before the fibre gets to my door (so much for Tasmania being the first to get it).

If only the world would go back to basic HTML, tiny GIF images, no audio/video/flash, and blinking text (for dramatic effect) ... then I'd get my speed back.

Malcolm ... help us to turn back time ... or at minimum ... freeze time until Africa catches up.

Great news

I've been reading The Reg daily for couple of years, noticing more and more Oz news.

For tech news relevant to Australia, we're usually stuck with Whirlpool Forums (word of mouth), RSS aggregators, and glossy articles in certain tech magazines a month too late.

Cheers to the change.
