Yawn....

'SSC's "Charge on the RunTM" onboard charging system allows for 10 minute full battery recharges on a 220V service''

'Charge on the Run'? .... err sorry "TM"...

Does that mean it's got an ordinary petrol engine too or that you have to drive the thing with a dirty great umbilical cord plugged in to the 'lecy socket back on the ranch?

Swimming pools? Superdomes? Pah!

Superdomes? Crazy American abortions of perfectly good Imperial 'standards'.

Everyone knows the true measure of volume for big things is Albert Halls. The trouble with Superdomes is no-one outside of the US knows what a super dome is. It's clearly like their pints, gallons etc, sounds the same looks the same -- totally different size. Olympic Sized Swimming Pools aren't even a ratified ISO standard size!

For the record, 1AH ~= 100,000 cubic metres.

Far more sensible I am sure you will agree!

Rebranding

The re-branding of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (NMRI) as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) seems to have been entirely succesful. The dropping of the dreaded "N" word means everybody can get on with things and the "Great British Public" (tm) can stop wetting themselves with unjustified paranoid fear.

How about rebranding "Nuclear Power" as just "Power", droping the "N" word? After all everyone wants power surely - ahem. Perhaps they could get a PR guru on the case and call it "Carbon Free" or - even better "New Age Power".

Oh, wait - that's what they are doing...

"Carry on!"

[I find it ironic that coal powered plants traditionally emit more radioactive material into the environment than nuclear power - but no one ever seemed to care: McBride, Science 1978]

Eurocrats - @Philip Marshall

Surely that should be €crats?

Otherwise there's too much repeated, repetitive redundancy - or is that the point?

I'm confused

Isn't this the same guy that recently had to give away his latest album for free on the cover of the Mail On Sunday (I mean for goodness sake).

If he wanted to give it away maybe he should have just uploaded it all with a video onto YouTube and spent the rest of eternity suing himself in an ultimately destructive logic loop...

Precision and numbers

"There is much, much more to physics than precision and numbers, we would be doing young people no service to undersell it to them by focusing solely on these aspects"

That is certainly not the Physics I know. I always thought the point of Physics was to describe and predict the physical world....

Since they appear to play down the importance of "precision and numbers" are they trying to make certain the young pupils gain a good solid background of "woolly thinking" and "unquantifiable"? , Presumably this is so that they can make educated and informed comments in the future along the lines of "Err umm well, sort of like this" and "maybe you need this much power, perhaps".

I can't help but feel if they come out with a watered down view of Physics they will have nothing but contempt for it.

Great.
