re: Beyond those ugly neighbours are sundry other unpleasant pseudo-democracies who wish Australia no particular good.
Yeah. We poms *really* resent losing the ashes to a 5-0 hiding.......
Sorry if this loses the merkin contingent, it's a spat between _civilised_ countries.
Well within the lifetimes of a lot of ppl on this forum, oil production will start to fail.
Hence the need to be tooled up with Trident and have all sorts of controls and monitoring on the British public.
Then we'll see the _real_ purpose of all these anti-terrorist laws. The establishment will need to preserve their lifestyles at all costs.
...that us Yanks will clone a mammoth first. Because "Bigger is better and biggest is best" is the American way.
Nonsense that's just a myth you like to peddle.

Even as a Brit, I cannot accept that this is true. What is more the problem is that the majority of Americans are probably rarely given the chance to exercise their minds. And I must also admit that the same forces are at work over here.
This about the romans growing grapes for wine in northern britain is all a load of tosh. They might have done, but the legionaires on hadrian's wall got their preferred plonk from Gaul, as was made perfectly clear in some of the vindolanda tablets.
The local stuff was probably for the roman wanabee britunculi who wanted to keep up appearances but couldn't afford anything decent.
Bit like today's brits who slurp australian grape pressings....
