I've always wondered why a hard hat seems de rigeur when at a very high point where, by definition, nothing is above and able to fall on you. Also where the fall is going to be a spectacular termination, regardless of headgear.

Re: "going over to pick up the can, throwing it into a bin, and getting a sponge"

Never mind the business of throwing the can into the bin. The robot seems to upend everything it picks up. There'll be a trail of drink all over the floor on the way to the bin.

This is how the Highland Haggis is caught.

Beaters are employed to chase the left or right-facing Haggises (Haggi?) the opposite way around the mountain so that the poor beasts topple over and roll to the valley floor where they are swept up in nets.

Re: Maximum Password length

My problem with the 'enter the 4th 8th and penultimate character' sites is that you've got to remember the place value of each character or resort to counting on fingers.

Quick, what's the 9th, 13th and 18th character in correcthorsebatterystaple (without resorting to fingers)?

iPad Mini vs Nexus 7: inch makes all the difference, says Apple CEO

Too wide

At 135mm wide, if you've got small hands like mine (no sniggering at the back) then the combination of aspect ratio and screen size will make the mini too big for single-handed edge grip. There's next-to-no edge bezel to make room for a thumb grip.

If you look at the photos that are all over the place, you can see that its either a one-handed fingers and ham balancing act in portrait mode or the usual two-handed controller grip in landscape mode (unless you're one of those octave-and-a-half freaks).

I call fake.

Just think of the impracticality of actually mass-production assembling anything with screw that has only 1 degree of rotational symmetry.

And that thread... it won't thread-form in plastic or thread-cut in metal.

I cant see any mounting holes; and with connectors round all four sides it's not going to be easy to box-up one of these.

Not as tough as it makes out to be...

I bought one (T-mobile £10/month - £115 upfront: 100mins) for my daughter for Xmas.

Unfortunately she has already managed to craze the screen glass by dropping it (allegedly) from 'knee-height'. I suspect that there may also have been an element of forward motion as well... :(

Now that its working OK I'm impressed with the screen quality and general zippiness (compared to my Wildfire).

The new screen was a £40 repair.
