Pair programming: The most extreme XP practice?

Puffin

HAH!!! You hippy loon.

"If you have never tried pair programming, try it." -- sure.... in your crazy free and easy hippy "work" world eh? SOME of us have actual work to get done, critical deadlines and you're the only one stuck on a project. Even spnding all 24 hours in a day isn't enough, no hope of hiring extra staff to even help you keep sane, let alone for fancy nonsense like this. Get real. Get a job in the real world. Stop espousing these unrealistic hippy ideals. Only when you're in a position where you actually realise that even suggesting nonsense like pair programming is idiocy, have you actually got a job in the real hard world of work

SanDisk?

Has the SanDisk Ultra II SSD 960 GB been deliberately overlooked here? Amazon currently sell it for £185. I picked one up from Amazon before Christmas for just £149. Now THAT's "Budget-friendly" for such capacity. And it outperforms the 240GB Crucial BX200 that I pulled to replace by a country mile in terms of real performance - Windows 10 boots to login prompt in around 3 seconds now.

WTF?

Half a million a month?

If my maths are right, 100 Petabytes at 1cent per gigabyte per month is more than half a million quid a month? Nice business if you can get it.

eBay?

It appears unpossible to log in to eBay with FF39. A script on the login page locks up the browser solid every time. *slow clap*

Bloody headlines

When you wrote "collapses" I thought you meant they'd gone in to administration, not just had a network fart.

Foveon sensor good, Lens bad

I don't see any part of any of these shots in good sharp focus. Another advert for why you don't want a Sigma lens. And the grain is surprisingly high on all above ISO100. I do wish for a good DSLR with any sensor that isn't bayer format though. This ain't it.

You mention BeagleBoard multiple times, but ignored the BeagleBone. Bizarre.

It's even worse than that

"Calls on 2G seem to be unaffected by this issue so you can still use your phone for its purpose" -- that's completely untrue too. I only have a 2G phone - a trusty Sony Ericsson K750i -- and this phone works perfectly fine everywhere except in the centre of Glasgow. Texts that won't send, calls that won't connect or get cut off. It's a total disaster and Voda keep telling us all is ok? Utter crap.

BT vs Sky vs Virgin

Puffin
FAIL

"unfrorgiveably unusably awful crap boxes from Virgin" - yes!

I've got whatever they gave me as their "current" / "latest" box. It's so completely unusable it's shoved in a back bedroom and really never used. Completely unbearable crap. I only have to keep it so that they give me the tripleplay discount. Cheaper to get 3 services than just two. Madness.

Puffin

Sky Anytime+ only for Sky Broadband customers - that's stupid

I can't get Sky Broadband where I live, so I have Virgin cable. Fine. I also have a Sky+HD box. But I can't use Anytime because, despite the fact the box hooks to my home network just fine, they won't allow streaming via anything other than their own Sky broadband service. This is a total nonsense and really pretty disappointing. I can't see any justification for this really. Shame is, in comparison to the truly unfrorgiveably unusably awful crap boxes from Virgin, the Sky+HD box is an absolute joy. So I'm stuck with half-a-service from each provider not making up the whole experience. Fantastic. :(

I've not been "Urged". Nor have friends also on the 20Mbit service. Where's this "urging" eh?
