Dinosaurs were DRAINED of blood by GIGANTIC HORROR FLEAS

Smallbrainfield
Thumb Up

I for one welcome our prehistoric blood-sucking overlords, etc...

There's a really unpleasant bit in Will Ferrell vehicle Land of the Lost where he gets drained by a massive blood sucking insect. Am I the only person who finds Ferrell not as funny as everyone says he is?

"Real guns you need to aim ahead, game guns you don't."

Not sure what games you're playing. Was on BF3 last night, long range sniping down a street, you have to account for bullet drop and the fact you're trying to hit a guy running across the road means you aim ahead. I discovered I'm pretty crap at long range sniper shooting.

Re: Puppeteer homeworld perhaps

Ha ha, I thought this as well, though it sounds far too risky for the Puppeteers to use a supermassive black hole to achieve escape velocity. Unless of course they weren't inhabiting the system at the time. Though that would mean they had to have added the Fleet of Worlds at a later date...

Gamers grumble over Steam outage

Smallbrainfield

The problem is if it keeps happening, then people can't access games they've paid

to be able to play. I quite like Steam, it's a good platform, but with such a massive user base it's got to be reliable. Especially now EA is trying to get it's Origin system off the ground. Although having seen that, it comes across as a soulless carbon copy of Steam.

I do know he wrote those episodes. Credit me with some intelligence.

He is responsible for the series as a whole now. I think there's still a bit too much legacy of RTD in there. So ner, fartface.

Smallbrainfield
Paris Hilton

There have been some genuinely good moments though,

the kid in a gasmask was proper scary and so was the Blink episode. Them things in suits were horrible as well, but I have to agree that the end of season episodes tend to be rather touchy feely soft. A proper visceral episode would be good, something horrible with Baker era too-wide smiles and weirdness. I reckon Matt Smith could do this and Moffat could write it if he can shake off some of the RTD-isms.

Also, Rory is ace.

We like zombies… because we are zombies

Smallbrainfield
Terminator

The best thing about zombies is the noise they make when you hit them with a shovel.

Been playing Dead Island, you see, though not as fun as using the guitar in Left 4 Dead (not technically zombies, of course).

A lot of people like zombie movies because they like the survival aspect of the aftermath and wonder how they would get on in the event of a zombocalypse, rather than being a zombie (which is probably the more likely outcome).

Personally, I think B&Q would be my first port of call. Lots of good weaponisable stuff in B&Q.

Flashback: The Quest for Identity

Smallbrainfield

Wonderful game

played through several times on the Mega Drive, then went and found a copy of Another World and played that to death as well. The graphics were pretty unique for the time and still stand out today. I think it was the fluid movement of the characters that made it also, the freaky aliens were cool as well.

Total Recall rehash – exit Martians, enter Jessica Biel

Smallbrainfield

I still can't believe John Woo made such a fcukup of Payback

The original short story is fast paced and actually reads like a treatment for an action movie, yet the film was tedium incarnate. They should try remaking that instead as the original (unlike Total Recall) is a crime.

Smallbrainfield
Terminator

So in essence, it sounds less of a remake and more like an enitrely

different film in all but name, with a vague nod to the original concept. Why call it Total Recall? It's irksome to fans of the original story and the film and means nothing to the kids they're expecting to pay to watch it.

Popular gamers 'should play for free' – Valve boss

Smallbrainfield
Paris Hilton

I agree with rewarding committed gamers

but voting for popular players (something of an oxymoron in most of the games I've played online) seems doomed to fail, abused by players that can and despised by players that can't.

I'm sure some sort of reward for gamers that play a lot would be better (Nintendo already thought of this with their stars vouchers given away in Wii and DS games), which players can put towards new games.

That said, I'm happy when I get a new weapon or a hat in TF2. Maybe hats are the way to go, with lumps of coal for the trolls.

Paris, because she may or not be popular with gamers.

Smallbrainfield

I hope this is sarcasm.

Steam can be a resource hog and having to connect to play games you've paid for is not to everyone's taste. I use it and it's great with Valve games, less so with some others. It's worth it for the occasional cheap offers though.

Wind power: Even worse than you thought

Smallbrainfield

No big surprise though, is it?

It never occurred to me that it would be anything other than a lobby group. At least the article states where the report is coming from, so you can choose to ignore it if it doesn't fit your worldview. However the data is skewed, there are serious issues with relying on wind generation, not least the thought of all those propellers accidentally pushing us closer to France.
