So, what IS the worst film ever made?

maxillius

THX 1138- pure symbolism. no color, acting, or excitement (despite the car chase and escape to the surface at the end). YAWN.

Independence Day- Jeff Goldblum takes out the alien mothership with a virus. Composed on a Mac. Please.

Waterworld- There isn't enough water in the ice caps to cover the entire planet apart from Mt. Everest. Also, if the water level is that high, how do they breathe? (The air pressure above 20,000 ft is insufficient to survive). Where does the asshole in the tanker get the gas for his Cadillac with no tires? And wasn't the Exxon Valdez destroyed in the wreck off Alaska in 1989?

Star Trek V- "The example against which all badness is measured" -Rajesh Koothrapali, Big Bang Theory

Beerfest- Seriously, what the hell? I'm glad I didn't pay for it, but I wish it wasn't taking up space in my rack.

BOFH: Where's my free fondleslab?

Give him a break...

...he's been writing BOFH since 1992(ish), non-stop since 1995. Do you want new material or recycled episodes again?

Apple predicted AI assistant for tablets in 1987

maxillius

You can tell this is from 1987 (not just from the copyright date) by the fact that he didn't take his tablet with him.

I *really* like the idea of a foldable screen though. More research on eink to make it faster could make that possible.

Teens who listen to music a lot are at high risk of depression

maxillius

I'd be depressed too...

...if I listened to that pop crap endlessly.

Watchdog backs Top Gear in war with Mexico

maxillius

not funny?

Yes it was. If it wasn't true, half of the US would be Mexico as the Spainiards were the first europeans to explore west of the mississippi river. It was monumentally stupid of them to sell usz all of that land!

Microsoft wraps Windows 8 in Ribbon UI?

Flame

whaaaaaaaaaa!

Seriously, all of you people afraid of change and learning something new should go back to win 3.1, wordperfect 6 and the record player and let the rest of us move forward.

Human heart could power an iPod

maxillius

maybe not tyres...

But I could see an application for these to fit a slightly out-of-round propshaft and wrap these nanogenerators around it so that the uneven pressure spins on the inside and generates power for the car.

Obviously the nanogenerator sleeve doesn't rotate.

Apple Mac OS X: A decade of Ten

I musdt be in the odd camp then...

...because macs don't really do what I want them to do anymore.

I'm no longer ashamed to say I'm happy with Windows.

Sony wins subpoena for PS3 hacker's PayPal records

Rent to Own?

What Sony is trying to do here is end the sales of high-end computing devices. Not even Apple will sue if you've jailbroken an iPhone, though they will brick it.

If I can't do what I like with it, it isn't mine, so I might as well rent, and if I'm going to rent I'm not paying full price.

Asus Eee Pad Slider

maxillius

You're right, however...

A keyboard/pad isn't the only thing that puts me off the tablet idea. Its size seems to welcome frequent mobile use, as such I would want to actually use it mobilly. Will the battery be able to put up with full screen brightness while playing multiple Deep Space Nine episodes?

Also, how long does it take for fatigue to set in if I were to type some papers on it?

And on that note, is there any productivity software for Android?

Second explosion rocks Japanese nuke plant

maxillius

why don't they...

...just put the reactor buildings underwater to start with? The US has nuclear submarines, and a power station doesn't have to be mobile, so you would think it would be a matter of building the reactor off-shore and then sinking the building.

Tsunami? Who cares, it's already submerged. Radiation leak? Where's it going to go? The 60 feet of water above or the quarter mile of water between it and shore? Full on explosion? Sink the station further before it goes to minimize catastrophic effects.

Job done.

wow...

60-70 dBa is the same sound level as most good cars on the motorway. While it seems quiet there, beside your desk is a different story.

iPhone crashes car stereos, Toyota warns

I would think...

...that driving a Kia Soul in itself would be a life-altering experience.

The same way that taking female hormones is a life-altering experience.

Couple crash into church, curse satnav

Really??

They need to make the disclaimer text spoken every time it's plugged into a car. You know, where it says, "the driver is resposible for ensuring the road is safe to travel on. Garmin is not responsible for errors generated by unreported road works or inclement weather" or some such.

Also, for people who obey the little devices blindly, give it up. You obviously have no need to drive if you don't know where you're going.
