Wi-fi users could watch porn? So shocking!
Why couldn't they surf on news websites instead, where they could see people killed, children dying of hunger or dismembered women in some war...
It's weird how some societies are intolerant for everything related to sex, a natural activity required to perpetuate the species, and very tolerant for everything related to violence. Seeing boobies would be more disturbing that watching a body eviscerated by shrapnels...
"research over the last decade has identified nicotine's carcinogenic potential in animal models and cell culture. Nicotine has been noted to directly cause cancer through a number of different mechanisms such as the activation of MAP Kinases. Indirectly, nicotine increases cholinergic signalling (and adrenergic signalling in the case of colon cancer), thereby impeding apoptosis (programmed cell death), promoting tumor growth, and activating growth factors and cellular mitogenic factors such as 5-LOX, and EGF. Nicotine also promotes cancer growth by stimulating angiogenesis and neovascularization. In one study, nicotine administered to mice with tumors caused increases in tumor size (twofold increase), metastasis (nine-fold increase), and tumor recurrence (threefold increase).N-Nitrosonornicotine (NNN), classified by the IARC as a Group 1 carcinogen, is produced endogenously from nitrite in saliva and nicotine."
The behavior of MS towards its clients is close to harassment. We bought Office licenses and CALs, after that and for weeks I had calls and mails from MS asking me to declare every stuff we have in IT, including Linux or Mac workstations! If I wanted to comply, it would have taken me days to complete their requests. As if I had so much time to lose to fulfill their NSA-like inquiries, when we are clean regarding licenses...
I never saw a provider putting such a pressure on its customers. The consequence is now I'm seriously thinking about the ways to get rid of MS when possible. Well done MS, not respecting your customers is such a brilliant move, if you want to go out the business.
Using LibreOffice instead of Office 2003 is probably viable
Two problems with that: compatibility with existing documents (LO makes a terrible job at reading MS Office documents, 2003 or 2007), and having to rewrite every excel macros existing in the organization.
I have to try A 'VB to Python' converter, see if they are efficient, it could help to solve the second point.
I tried twitter during some times but was so disgusted by the flood of racism, xenophobia and other hate speeches I leaved the service with relief. Why would I try another 'social' network, to face another time the mediocrity of most of Earth's inhabitants? Screw you people, let me live alone in my cave and choose by myself who I want to speak with.
Yeah, these women and children working 60 hours a week paid $1.5/hour, packed in crowded dorms at night, frequent victims of work accidents and so despaired there are many suicides should be so grateful to the great capitalistic system that enables them not to starve. Hail to economics, when giving somebody just enough not to starve is seen as the ultimate progress, as long as we westerners can enjoy iThingsTM we pay 5 times the cost of production, making Apple the richest company in the process.
'Force for good'? Yeah, right... and the marmot wraps the chocolate in tinfoil.
All energies kill. Nuclear energy is still the energy that kills the less people by produced TWh.
Environmentalists blame constantly nuclear energy as being the Absolute EvilTM,when usage of coal kills millions of people each year and help to modify the global climate system... well done guys, you truly show how useless you are.
Current diplomatic moves by Rouhani are not well accepted by all the branches of the Iranian Powers. Pasdarans for instance are really infuriated by his attempts to discuss with the US. Destabilization and counter-moves will occur or are already occuring.
Not far from being true, no one did more for Iran than Cheney, who could be a persian mole.
I'm surprised there's nothing in US law to already fight such disgraceful behavior: violation on image right, harassment, privacy violation... The US could prosecute somone like Mr Levison because he did not give his SSL certificates to the FBI in an electronic manner but couldn't do anything against such actions that could lead to destroy a human being? It sounds surprising...
why not go the whole hog and change over to Linux?
Because so many applications runs on windows only, because so many users are used to Windows UI, because finding and installing drivers on Linux can be such a pain in the arse, because WS servers, Active Directory, centralized authentication, GPO are so useful and easy....
I'm not opposed to a move o Linux, but changing all our our infrastructure for our desktops would have a very huge cost and impact that it is for now not worth the risk.
you've also missed the fact that European companies are enthusiastic exporters of jobs to Asia and low cost central Europe locations.
You mean some european companies already exploit slave laborers and children across the World, to exploit the poor many so the rich few have more and more? Brilliant! So we are not that stupid in Europe, we still realize that we can sell our moral values for 30 pieces of silver. I would be stupid not to follow the trend, I'm starting a virtual shop for cheap human body parts right now. I already have a promotion: pay for two child hearts and get the third one for free!
Yeah, we're damn stupid in Europe! Forbidding slave labor, forbidding children to work 16 hours a day to force them to go in school instead, trying to cure people instead of letting deseases taking care of the poors, we are way too stupid. Why can't we just gouge people as the others do?
