Damn Straight!

I used to push Norton AV* to my clients, until that Symantec 'Licensing Portal' started up and took me two months to get a damn upgrade license a few years ago. Then it was Eset NOD32, still is when people absolutely must pay for AV.

^Norton System Works (360 now) was always a PIA and caused more issues than it solved.

One caveat though - Ghost - right up there next to sliced bread that one.

TERRORISTS IN SUBMARINES menace the Free World!

Too easy

1. Build fiberglass sub for one way trip.

2. No need for diesels, batteries with a 75 mile range. (Weight/size savings)

3. Fill cargo bay with explosives/some kind of poison/nuke. (dirty bomb would work too)

4. Fit up a container ship with the ability to drop a sub through the hull 50 miles off shore.

5. Stay submerged till inside harbor of choice.

6. Bang.(Your 'fill in cause here wins whatever point it was trying to make.)

Altogether too easy and cheap for the price. (estimate what it cost to put 9/11 in operation and you'll probably find the sub idea cost-effective)

Now what?

Oh Yeah?

You must live in the Motherland of Massachusetts (or a similar state, the northeast or west coast) - I do not have a delivery charge on my one utility because my power is from a private co-op utility company, not government-owned. I even get a small profit-sharing check once a year from them. Your 'delivery charge' is simply a tax - nothing more. Best part is you don't realize it lol.

You are also wrong about repairing vehicles - Autozone has a OBDII code reader for $59. Saved a lot of cash keeping my vehicles out of the stealerships.

The thought I have atm is that you're one of those people that has to call a repairman for every damn thing. I.E. Be a man and learn to fix your shit.

WTF?

If Microsoft was a bully.....

..... what would you call Apple?

God help us if Apple ever gets into other stuff:

Apple Refrigerators - Can only be stocked at your local Apple iGrocery Store.

Apple iFurniture Stores - iCouches have only two of three cushions, if you sit on springs, you're not sitting in the Apple Approved style.

Apple Arms Co. - Use only Apple-Approved Ammunition from the Apple iGun Store - and God Help You if you hold it wrong and may explode with the use of non-Apple iholsters, iAmmo, iCleaning rods, and... wait, you cannot clean an iGun, only Apple iGunsmiths can. Damn.

Apple iCar - Everything sealed except for the doors, gas cap and hood can only be opened/filled at the Apple iGas&iGo

Apple Utilities - 30% 'handling and shipping' charge. Didn't put in the water pipes or electric cable, didn't pump/geenerate it, but if you want Apple-Approved power and water for your Apple Appliances.... 30%.

Apple iEats - Apple Approved food from Apple iFarms - costs a little more (30%), but you won't find anything unhealthy - it's good for you, just ask us.

Apple News Corp - All The News We Feel That's Fit to Print and Will Be Good For You In Our Opinion.

Yup, Microsoft is evil all right. Just another scary bedtime story that fanbois tell their children at night. Don't let the Billyman get you!

The 1911A1 is an awesome weapon

LOVE the stopping power of the .45cal 1911A1! Simple, easy to use, and can be dropped in the mud and still operate. Damn fine weapon! Weak spot is accuracy over 50 feet but you can't have everything.

Oh yeah. The weapon uses a 7 round magazine (+1 in the chamber) - not a high capacity one such as the Glock uses.

Another thing is that gets me about the anti-gun crowd, people will kill people with whatever is at hand - rocks, hands, pens, pencils, curbstomping (which I hear is great sport in Britain), knives, double-decker buses (and the blowing up kind too), cars, poison, yada yada yada..... Hell, build a couple of catapults and fling big rocks at a shopping center.

The weapon doesn't matter, it's the asshole using it for the wrong purpose.

Ref: I am/was a state certified weapons instructor - weapons are useful tools, nothing more, nothing less, and in the wrong hands can kill - just like any other tool.

Lol Ain't nothing!

New York and Arkansas are in the process of making it illegal to walk, run, or ride a bike txting or listening to music. Why? People walking into traffic, falling into water fountains(lol), those damn jumping attack walls, etc.

Seriously.

For all they say about evolution vs. creationism, they will not let nature take it's course and let Darwin decide the issue. IMO if you get killed over something like that, you're too damn stupid to live anyway... Go Darwin!

Please try to do better than that - How does that apply? Just when did Manning get shot? Didn't happen. Go fish.

So,

Why did Manning do it? Thus far nothing he had stolen has been earth-shattering, Wikileaks and Assauge are more concerned with dramatic effect and saving their own asses, and now he's been hung out to dry. No one seems to care about that, now do they? Reasons why? Oh hell no, poor lad is being abused - in the exact method he knew he would but didn't believe.

Seriously. What did he expect from stealing docs and sending them off?

Parades in his honor? Protesters on the street defending him?

Manning seems to have believed the World is/was all sweetness and light, that being politically correct would nullify any (as he might have considered) unjust laws/actions would save him.

Sucker. The sad/gravehumor laughs come when you realize if he was 1. an officer, 2. female, and or 3. a minority, it probably would have. Now ain't that a bitch?

No matter how much we wish the world was different, people are people and they tend to look out for Number One, themselves. Go ahead, point out any one politico in your country of origin that say they have your interest in his/her heart. Then find out how much they are worth. Follow the damn money! No matter what they say or pontificate, nothing happens and they make bank off mouthing the words. (Mother Teresa types you can count of one hand this past century and they go out and actually live their words - few and far between)

Tell me it's not so after you downgrade this post.

Queos lvl42 mage

Fail.

Know of what you speak.

1. PFC Manning gave up his constitutional rights when he signed up and placed himself under the Uniform Code of Military Justice - the UCMJ. He also knew what the consequences would be for his actions, by the time you leave basic, you're well aware of the UCMJ and how it can incredibly, permanently, fsck up your life. I'm talking during and after they have given you a Bad Conduct Discharge. Nothing to be taken lightly, I assure you.

2. Not torture. Liability. If the kid does decide to kill himself and succeeds, big bucks for the family and at least 33.3% for the lawyers on both sides, people get fired/court martialed, and the civilian courts will back them up all the way. These suicide-watch procedures are legally determined by the courts - Judges/lawyers know best, right? Right? Look it up. You won't like it.

I don't like it, I don't support it, but it;s legal in every way.

On a side note: Did you know we're bombarded with television commercials advertising lawyer firms? They supply reasons that you should sue, if you know anyone with any of the problems they specialize in (asbestos, accidents, getting disability, promising to 'Get You The Money You Deserve'. WTF?

Of course it IS legal.... depending on what the meaning of 'is', is.....

It's no damn wonder we're fsking nuts...

Who are the biggest electric car liars - the BBC, or Tesla Motors?

Queos lvl42 mage

Take a shot. (it's ok, I want you to)

Had a thought and while it would be a long term solution, I think it could be feasible.

Batteries are the big issue and in a perfect world, we would have Shipstones (ref: Robert Heinlein) , but since we don't (yet), why not embed a wireless energy transfer system into our roadways?

A battery would still be required for driving 'off-grid' but while on a microwave or electromagnetic system enabled road, the vehicle would use and charge off of it's power receptors built low in the undercarriage. Devil is in the details, but I could see where utilities could charge and (damn bloodsucking) governments could tax by the mile to maintain the systems/roadways. This tech has been around since WWII and has been proven with 'tens of megawatts' transmission (75, 98, and back in '26 by a Japanese researcher named Hidetsugu Yagi.) I picture a much smaller field in linear patterns.

Yes, there would have to be some safety testing (idea came about after remembering some eco disaster movie in the 80' s concerning those basic electric huge transmission towers - a scene where some dude on the ground under a tower held two fluorescent light tubes over his head and they lit up), but from what I understand up to 750 megawatts is ok. (A human safe power density of 1 mW/cm2 distributed across a 10 km diameter). This also could be alleviated by limiting the field to the roadway, correct?

Why not take that and use it to power/charge road vehicles? If you're going to change the grid infrastructure to accommodate home/public chargers, why not change it so the use of electric cars becomes more efficient? (no long term battery charging on a trip, more or less continuous, batteries could be smaller, solves tax/road maintenance issues).

Might be an epic fail, but this could be done, correct? It's not my field but everything I can find says it could be done, thus the entreaty to shoot holes in my balloon.

Fire away, Gridley!

California's green-leccy price system will stifle plug-in cars

Queos lvl42 mage

I KNEW IT!

Oddly enough this came up during a conversation with the little wife. I wondered what the utility bill would be on a plugin car and couldn't find anything remotely useable on the internets with Google/Bing/Blekko other than the green's unverifiable statistics and conclusions. A plugin car wouldn't be feasible for us out here in the woods, most storms result in a power-outage and having a dead car in the driveway would suck monkey balls if we needed it really bad. A hybrid is/would be a better answer and I've already considered what I would do to be able use one as a generator when required. Lots of possibilities there.

I have been trying to get a Pious for a while now - pissed at my 2.9l fourbanger GMC Canyon with it's unassailable 22.3 combined mpg.... ecomods are sneered at... scanguageII results and real time monitoring very depressing. Sigh. damn truck. Anyway Toyota thinks those things are made out of gold and my Canyon a POS - offered half what it's worth on a trade.
