Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde: Fun, but not for all

IsJustabloke

Ha! A journo that understands the Alfa virus... I love Alfa's I'm just lining up a mito QV to accompany my 1986 spider. Until about 3 years ago that spider was my daily car. I drove it every where and it *never* let me down. It was the cost of running it that made me get a more modern car.... 18 to the gallon and I drive it like I stole it (where possible ;) ) not to mention the fat end of 300 quid a year to tax; surprisingly it was very cheap to insure although that could be my age I suppose I

couldn't afford another Alfa at the time I needed to get a car so I'm currently driving a FIAT punto on a daily basis (my spider comes out at the weekends) its surprisingly alright but its no Alfa.

Hipsters ahoy! Top Ten BOARD games for festive family fun

IsJustabloke

Re: Escape from...

That's often the problem... I love board games and was a huge fan of the avalon bookcase games but they tend to be long and complex and people are less willing to invest an evening (or two) for a board game.... that said I recently discovered several friends willing to (eager even) to come and play with my Scalextric set so perhaps games aren't such a big leap... I shall broach the subject over Christmas dinner :)

ASA slaps Ebuyer AGAIN - this time for ignoring regulator

IsJustabloke

Re: The snag with this next day free delivery is that

I recently had some correspondence with the MD on their choice of courier....I was willing to pay more for a proper standard next day delivery service as well, his response was that if I paid the extra I could upgrade to "before midday" which was always sent by Royal Mail.... I pointed out to him that I'll be dealing with CCL online in future for *all* my orders because of his choice of courier.

Also I have no flag for the ASA but they are right Ebuyers delivery claims are bollocks, they always have been.

American bacon cured with AR-15 assault rifle

Re: Prefer danish Bacon

IsJustabloke
Meh

American bacon... What's wrong with it?

take a lovely smoked streaky bacon slice.... then roll it between 2 steel rollers until it has attained a glass like sheen, is approximately 1 mm thick and will send shards flying across the room with sufficient force to slice open wrist and necks should you be so foolish as to attempt to skewer it with a fork.

In the event you should actually manage to get a piece in your mouth you'll find that it has no flavour, actually feels like glass in your mouth and will slice your gums / tongue into ribbons.

That's whats wrong with it.

And while we're on the subject... flat roundish fried meat things are not sausages

Re: @big_D

Where was Tom Bombadil? Quite rightly no where to be seen or heard!

The LOTR films were superb tales of good versus bad and had they been completely accurate renditions of the books that would have been even better because the books are great stories terribly told.

The Hobbit would have made a single excellent movie or at a push two but there was never enough story there for a trilogy.

The Hobbit as a book is everything the LOTR trilogy isn't.... readable and enjoyable without having to edit out all the shit "elven poetry" and the likes of "Tom Bombadil" ... if you want that shit go read "Giles of Ham"

There's no mention of retro fitting the things to older cars... yet,

This is not dissimilar to the recent experiment with insurance company's offering to fit a black box to your car to monitor your driving .... that experiment was deemed a failure because unsurprisingly not enough drivers were willing to be monitored every time they got in the car.

I don't really care about 4g but if they are going to charge me for it then perhaps they should supply it.

Re: OEM Bloat not Decreased since Z1?

horses for course.... I think the Walkman app is superb and the album app is being upgraded all the time, so I disagree with your view in its entirety

As a side note.... you'd think that the company that *invented* personal music players might have a clue or two about mobile music and they do. .

My one small gripe is that otherwise great ear buds have a tendency to work loose no matter what size bud I pick and the round the back of the head design is a pain...

I would also disagree with the talk of OEM bloat because anyone who thinks the SONY has bloatware on it has obviously never owned an a handset supplied by Orange.
