iPlayer great on the HDR T-2

BBC iPlayer is great on my Humax Fox HDR T-2, playing HD streams it's smoother than my new laptop when attached to the TV. I'd welcome the inclusion of ITV Player, but I suspect there's nothing of interest on there to watch. 4OD player would be a better bet.

How to choose the right screen size

46" at 10'

I've got a 46" Samsung TV and sit 10' away, my Humax HD recorder allows watch a HD channel and send either 576, 720 or 1080 line resolution to the TV. Even with my tired 43 year old eyes, I can quite clearly see an improvement in detail between 720 and 1080, and enormously so over 576. Now obviously the lower resolutions have to go through two lots of scaling, but if the original content is 1080, it makes sense to watch it at that resolution for the best results regardless or optical resolving theory.

Re: Can you add delay to it?

I wish my Samsung dumped the unprocessed audio out of it. 5.1 can go in via an HDMI input, but it only outputs stereo via HDMI or optical. So if I want 5.1 from my Humax HD Freiview box I have to feed that in to my surround sound amp (also Samsung) directly via optical. Both those units have the ability to ad a delay to the audio to match the picture, but it's a pain having to switch audio source and use a separate remote for volume (a good all-in-one remote is on my wishlist).

Cross-range

The shuttle's cross range capability wasn't just useful for military missions which were never flown, but also to be able to read a far greater range of landing sites in the case of either a take off abort or an abort once around. It also made it a lot easier to use the alternate sites in the case of adverse weather at planned landing sites, without the need to burn a lot of fuel changing orbit.

Luckily a take off abort was never performed either, but if there had been only limited cross range capability, many missions would not have been cleared to fly, as an abort would have lead to an enviable ditching in water or a crash landing. The shuttles cross range capability allowed at least a good attempt being made to put down on a dozen different long runways around the world located within gliding range of the downrange track.
