Utter rubbish, ARM aren't looking to lock in anybody, these types of systems are being adopted on merit and merit alone. Customers are migrating to them from x86, and could just as easily go elsewhere if the ARM ecosystem doesn't meet their needs.

I had a similar experience back in the 2000's with a HP iPaq we were developing on. When put on charge it's smooth metal case changed to feeling slightly rough, this was due the 50Hz mains frequency vibration which meant it wasn't properly earthed. The boss couldn't detect it and didn't believe me, so challenged me to a test to see if I could feel it while he surreptitiously switched the charger on or off. I won the challenge, but he wouldn't let me take it apart to see what the problem was! I've since found lots of other electronics have the same issue.

It's not appropriate full stop. As a human I expect to be interviewed by other humans, if they are not up to screening candidates themselves and need help from so called AI, that tells me everything I need to know about that company, and certainly wont be working for them.

Many decades ago I worked on porting Swiss interbank gateway software to other UNIX variants, it was written by German speakers who did their best to comment in English, but there were a few spelling mistakes. So I submitted the corrections upstream with a polite note that about the correct English spelling, but they wouldn't accept the change, so each new version came back with the every one of the many dozen instances of error trapping code sectioned off with comments reading "########## DESASTER ##########"

I recently made an improved version of the Raspberry Pico clock software, which had all the comments in Chinese. I was very pleasantly surprised that google translate produced something which made perfect sense.

The only time I've used zram is in a 1MB Raspberry Pi to prevent it swapping to SD card. On something which much more RAM, it hardly ever swaps and when it does I'd prefer it to go to a NVMe SSD.

Years ago I was driving in the Salisbury area and pulled out of a side road and found myself with a Challenger 2 in front and behind. My passenger was worried that if we had to brake suddenly the tank behind would just roll over us. I said I was more worried about the one in front, as they can stop almost instantly on tarmac, tipping up on its tracks, and we would just slot in underneath as all 70 tons of it came back down.

Touch screens should also be banned from cars, which will liberate a few chips. Manufacturers know they are dangerous to use while driving, but are coming up with idiotic alternatives such a gesture control, which still involve looking for visual feedback and having hands off the wheel for longer than conventional controls - just put knobs on the dash, you knobs!

With BBC BASIC you couldn't edit the line either, but there was the copy cursor so you could just copy a line from anywhere on screen and correct it as you went, without retyping the whole thing.

You get the same problem with SD cards for the Raspberry Pi. A 16GB card can be anything from 14.6GiB to 14.9GiB, so if you want to be able to clone the card easily, don't let the last partition go past 14.5GiB.
