tablets - whats the point

I got one of those lovely HP tablets in the firesale and it was worth every penny. I have no actual "use" for it and having owned it for over 12 months I have not been able to find one, however... I wouldn't be without it.

I can throw it in a bag and hardly notice it's there. I can take photos to show my nan so that she can see them, I can look up random stuff on google while I'm watching TV and I can read emails on a screen bigger than my phone.

All in all it's a great thing to have, even if it doesn't really have a use. So the only purchasing factor with tablet for me is price (and battery life if you were thinking of a shenzenpad). I'd throw £150 at a tablet for fun (and did) but I wouldn't throw £300 becuase it's got no use.

I'd love to know if anyone has found an actual use for a tablet. I mean something that you can't do on the phone or laptop that you already own.

Automatic synchronising

Sounds like google drive will be like itunes with the Automatic synchronising before you can stop it.

I just hope that google drive doesn't decide to wipe all files on my phone / laptop / touchpad and any other device that it comes into sync with; like itunes does.

Chris Chant: We've cut central gov websites

destruction of useful information

I agree with Stuart22, not only has the office of the Public Guardian's site (I also agree that this was a really well designed site) been replaced by the illumines orange idiocy of direct.gov, but someone has decided to move everything around on justice.gov to make it impossible to find. Furthermore the hmcourts-service site is no more, unless you follow the links on the justice.gov site which takes you back, after you have spend an age looking for what you wanted, to the old page on hmcourts-service.

A brilliant bit of cost saving there, can I apply for a job as an MP as it looks like any idiot can do it.

bing

"Bing showed remarkable restraint in shilling its own services"

erm, I think Bing is just incapable of returning useful results. You can type the name of a site without the www in the front and it won't return it as a result.

Protection from Harassment Act 1997

The act refered to in the article should be the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 not the Harassment Act 1997, and this act covers all of the issues which the Charity require. The questions is not the need for new laws but the need for effective policing and use of those laws. Don't make things more complicated by adding laws, keep it simple so that the police can get good at using the laws they actually have already.
