Ten serious sci-fi films for the sentient fan

Philip Edwards

Re: Wot, no Avatar?

There's a pretty strong sic-fi element in the Avatars themselves. The ability to put your consciousness in to another body, cloned or otherwise, could be incredibly relevant in the near future. Would full-body replacements be available to the public if they could afford them? Would it be possible to transfer minds completely from body to body? Is immortality the next step for the super-rich?

As for the difference between the Na'vi and the other creatures in the area, just look at the huge difference between humans and other various animal and insect species on Earth. It's unlikely that the Na'vi are related to the animals of Pandora for the reasons you list. However, it's not impossible.

Upgrades

I bought my MacBook in America a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to find that I was eligible for the upgrade here in Britian.

Xbox 360 reverses plunging console sales trend

@Replacements

Why does everyone always jumps on the RROD bandwagon? I had a launch 360 that worked perfectly for two years when I traded it for an Elite. That 360 has been running perfectly since then.

PSP Go will support UMDs, sort of

@ AC 2

The problem is not future purchases, it's wether all the games people have already bought can be used on the PSPGo. If they can, and the equipment to do so is cheap (preferably free, but this is Sony) then that's great. If not, then they are pissing on their customers. Again.

To continue the slight fanboy rants: the original xbox had several games that could use music stored on the HD as custom soundtracks. Project Gotham 2 (best in the series) definately could and I know there were others. So basically, Sony is just catching up to what M$ did six years ago...

As for F@H, the feature I want is background downloading. I admit I havent tried it with the newest version, but previously I had to choose between F@H and downloading demo's. F@H lost.

Re:Hmmm

"4/8GB is not going to contain my entire music library, but then neither does my current 6GB iPod mini, luckily(?) it turns out that around 88% of released music is crap to average, so the 12% that I've marked up 4 stars or better will fit just fine."

Are you saying that 88% of all music released is crap or that 88% of the music you own is crap? If so, I have a simple and cost-effective solution for you. Stop buying crap music.
