Paris Hilton

An excellent use of..

.. £2000 of our money! Huzzah! Long live the government!

Now where do I get one of those bottles of OGC Water I've heard about?

I say bring back Guy Fawkes he had some good ideas.

Paris because she doesn't need a quango to help her waste someone elses money.

BT and Siemens slammed over prisoner call rates

Go

Why should we care?

It sounds like good business to me! And why shouldn't businesses try to make a pound a phone call from people who have committed crimes within the UK. It's just a shame it's all privatised now or it could have been worked into the prisoners paying something back to us.

MPs call Qinetiq sellout execs 'profiteers' - no, really?

Yarr!

Thank Orko for the journalism from our fearless El Reg staffers! Great written article!

I just hope it goes some way to changing something, somewhere, anyone out there listening? (echo, echo, echo)

No leader or person with power is prepared to actually stand up and say something. This country stinks because our politicians are spineless.

Stop

Oh dear..

.. another half baked answer to a problem from our glorious government.

The half wit quango employed by a half wit MP have once again come up with a suitable political answer.

Or just maybe our glorious government have asked one of those clever arithmatic questions you used to do when you were twelve....

Government A has 200 cubic tons of plastic waste & Country UK has 100cubic tons of space for waste. As Industry produces all of the waste, using only the general public, formulate a stupid answer and pass to Junior Minister Y, to pass to Senior Minister X who will then inform the general public that they know best and not to argue with the PM who incidentally, no-one voted for.

Top judge: put everyone in UK on the DNA database

Peter Davies

nothing to hide bashing

I think all the nothing to hide bashers are missing the point.

If by having everyones DNA on record it meant that serial killers, peadophiles, rapists & terrorists could be named and therefore prosecuted and locked up (and specially for those very liberal popeye types *why not castrate them while we've got em?) isn't it worth having everyones DNA on record? We're not talking about a complete George Orwell society, just having a name/NI number against a string of DNA?

Isn't one life saved worth more than your principals on DNA sharing?

I don't know the statistics of estimated crimes solved, but I'm damn sure the police don't solve all the serious crimes committed.

Remember this is all hypothetical, I believe that it would deter people, but even if it didn't, I'm in favour of it, if it helps catching criminals quickly once a crime has been committed.

This was never touted as a be all and end all to crime, I'd love to see police back on the beat instead of catching speeding drivers, but in the current situation/policies this isn't going to change quickly.

Nothing to hide

I've nothing to hide, I think it's a good thing to have everyone on file, I imagine that this could impact crime levels massively.

I agree though, our poor performing government couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, never mind the co-ordination of something on this scale. It will never happen, but I like the idea.

Olympic planners left IT out of the budget

Peter Davies

Shoddy - why isn't there public uproar regarding this?

I vote we line up incompetent idiots that gave the job of costing "the games" to the incompetent idiots who employed some incompetent idiots to actually bring the idea of costing the games to reality, we then line up the incompetent idiots who were employed to actually cost "the games" and who employed the wholly unsuitable first year students to give them the answer.

Then we find and break the fingers of the person or persons who has simply rolled over and barked "yes" when every foreign and uk based building and maintenance company has sucked their teeth and trebled their cost due to "unforeseen" costings. Once their fingers are broken we push them to go and live in a housing estate apartment for a year and reduce his salary to minimum wage.

If I have some work done, I get a price and that's the price, why can't the money I give to the running of this shoddy country just use the same ethos! Instead of just playing games with gangs of quangos.

BBC shows Olympic logo the door

Guff

Good on the BBC for publishing some tongue in cheek alternatives to the guff wot is our official 2012 logo.

I think they must have farmed the official logo design out to one of our esteemed Euro counterparts, who have royally messed up any chance of us being taken seriously.
