Thumb Up

Re: There should be more dual sim phones out there

Ok, there should be more of a choice but my DUOS does everything I need it to do. This doesn't include watching movies (I have a TV if I wish to do that) or take hi-res pictures (I have a Nikon for that); I can however take and make calls and texts on whichever SIM I choose.

Being able to use any of my email accounts when out and about, Opera, Skype, Outlook-synchronised Calendar, the MP3 player, and SatNav / GPS were also on my wish- list. The Dashcam app. is something of a bonus!

Ribbon, what Ribbon?

I find the current Office interface very friendly - it just takes a little time to set up your Quick Access Toolbars (If you hadn't set them up in Office 2007 and imported them, that is!).

I have the icons I need and only those I need on a slim border at the top of Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, and Excel; maximum screen utilisation with no satin hair accessory in sight.

Just how much of a market is there?

I was a very satisfied Orange 'Line Two' user for many years as it gave me exactly what you're looking for: a simple means of separating Business and Personal numbers (Diverts, Bills etc.). With both lines active even 'Call Waiting' worked between them if needed.) It was only since my employer changed from Orange to O2 that I've had to join the masses and carry two phones around.

Ideally of course one could actually use two SIMs as you describe, giving flexibility between networks; I can only assume that 'reputable' handset makers are too cowed by the operators to allow this as I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be prepared to pay a premium for the convenience of only carrying one phone.

Nokia are at least dipping their toe into the market with C1-00 ( http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_c1_00-review-517.php ) but not only is this not a SmartPhone, more important is the following: "Only one SIM card is active at a time".

I find it quite frustrating as I know the technology is available, I'm sure there's a market and I have the readies waiting...

(Apparently Line Two is actually part of the GSM standard but only Orange ever implemented it.)

Anyone else having divert problems?

As an Orange user who has had lousy reception at home for years it's great to be able to use the phone anywhere in the house!

I had to call CS after my first roaming call though as I was permanently diverted to Answerphone even when back on Orange; after the obligatory 15 minutes queuing she did something and told me to re-boot and the divert went away; result...

...except that now callers aren't diverted to my Answerphone when the phone is off, instead they're getting some T-Mobile message saying I'm temporarily unavailable!

(Two steps forward, one step back.)
