Nvidia takes fight to Sony, Nintendo with Android handheld console

Firstly, sorry I haven't had time to read the entire article, but the second thing I thought of when I saw the image.. (the first was "great, I hope this turns out to be a decent gaming device"), anyway, the second thing was hopefully they will do a deal with OnLIVE to give access to the OnLIVE games catalogue, presuming it has WiFi built in.

I think whether you like OnLIVE or not, a gaming controller with a built in screen that can play android games and some of the latest PC titles can't be a bad thing surely...

Cheers

Re: Or on Three network

I'm on the 3 network, I sent it to 7726 (without the 3 at the start) and it worked fine. Also, I received a thank you text requesting I reply with the spammers original number so they can look it up. Doing so I received a follow up text from 3 saying it appeared to originate from a shortcode and to try replying STOP ALL.

Not sure if it will every be taken any further, but fingers crossed.

During my first week as an ICT Techie at a school I encountered a problem with MS Office on one of the machines. Reading round a few of the knowledge base articles and support tickets the answer was to re-allocate the MS Office package to the workstation, basically un-installing and re-installing the whole of Office. Being as I'm such an efficient person I thought "Heck, why not re-allocate the package to the entire domain therefore fixing any other machines that may have the issue but no-one has noticed yet". Fantastic idea, especially 2 days later when people could finally use their computers again as it brought the whole network to a crawl.

First week in a new job not knowing enough about what your doing is a bad combination.

On the other hand, Office worked pretty well after that.

I also recently had a colleague panic that one of the displays on a laptop had packed in, he went through the usual processed including contacting the manufacturer to check it's still in warranty before someone said "Have you tried the key combinations to increase the brightness" to which he replied "Of course I have, but strangely it's just started working fine" - hmm...

From what I've read on the forum the first runs of the RPi will be without an enclosure. I know a few enthusiasts on the forum have said they are looking to design/build their own enclosure and I believe the organisation intents to supply it with an enclosure in the future.

The whole idea of this project is to keep the cost low and provide a product best suited for the educational market. From what I've read (and I've been following the project online for some time) the thinking is that it will provide a low cost unit that students can use throughout their computer science studies. Essentially allowing students to once again program computers in high schools rather than using Word, Excel etc etc.

Most computer networks do not allow students access to such programming tools because of the risk to their network and so on.

This is only my understanding of the project.

Obviously, the end product itself can have many more uses, I plan to buy one to use as a HTPC.

I know the people over at R-Pi have but great thought into the components they are using because they really want to hit the publicised end price tag. Even down to selection of components not only based on price, but price including the robot fitting it to the board etc.

From everything I've read on their site I have complete faith in them.

If you have posted a negative comment here without taking the time to read the blog on the site to understand the process they have already gone through then I highly recommend you do.

If nothing else, it's a very interesting read.

Cheers
