BOFH: WHERE did this 'fax-enabled' printer UPGRADE come from?

CFH Gina?

Any chance we can get a continuation of Gina, the Consultant From Hell? I realise that it is essential to keep up a high body count of printer sales droids, but some more Gina would be very welcome. Bomb blast icon because Gina sounds HOT!

Why Java would still stink even if it weren't security swiss cheese

Unhappy

Yup

And as a sys-admin, I hate that you need a degree from Oracle to have any hope of understanding the numbering system and exactly what needs to be installed. Is it the JDK, the JRE, the Java SE, the JERK...(may not have got the spelling of that last one right)

Oh, and the fact that Sun loved Java so much that they decided to name all of their products Java. Java the language, Java Desktop environment, Java Beans, Javascript, Java FX, HotJava the browser etc.

Red Dwarf to blast off on new adventure

Rob Grant is essential

As good as the series was, the books were even funnier - 'Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers' and 'Better Than Life'.

The two books that came out after that were quite revealing about where the humour came from. Last Human by Naylor was more a novel than comedy, whereas Backwards by Grant was extremely funny.

If Rob Grant isn't involved in the project, then I think the shows will suffer from a lack of humour.

Oracle on Unix biz: We can rebuild it

Thumb Down

Gone gone gone

I have been a Sun certified Systems Administrator and Network Administrator for 6 years. Up until last year I had no trouble picking up contracts to install Solaris. I have had no work since November last year. Next month, I will hopefully become a RHCE and be able to pick up some of the contracts that require me to know Red Hat Linux.

Solaris is dead dead dead. By the time Oracle come to realise this, they won't be able to do anything about it because all the good Solaris admins will have chosen to switch to other *nixs to continue being able to work and they won't be coming back. Solaris was the best Unix around for a long time and it is appalling how badly Oracle have handled its acquisition. Let's face it, Microsoft would have done a better job than Oracle has.

The real joke is the emails I get from Oracle asking me to take training on Solaris. Yeah RIGHT!!!!
