Tech widens the educational divide. And I should know – I'm a teacher in a pandemic

Multiple studies show that children learn just as much sitting on fallen logs as in an airconditioned sterile class room. Technology, as in Computers, are tools. They can help you get there like a car or help you smash your fingers like a hammer. It is all in how good the tool is and how it is implemented. I am willing to bet I can get any group of kids from a third world country, that does not remove the need for families, to a higher standard of learning and true knowledge than the best teacher you can find, attempting to teach children that are raised in any of the first world nations that have removed the need for families to get a retirement.

It works like this:

1) give everyone the ability to get a retirement, guaranteed, just work for 20 years.

a) they do not need children to finance their retirement

b) kids are now just status cymbals

2) give everyone the idea that getting that retirement is far more important than the kids you are raising

a) Job first kids second no exceptions

b) Belonging to the worker organizations is second kids third

3) Getting more benefits that other people pay for becomes a priority

a) I am not responsible for me, YOU ARE!!!!

b) sense I am not responsible for me, I am definitely not responsible for the kids

i) this is why we pay teachers, I AM NOT A TEACHER!!! I did not sign up for this!

4) Each generation gets worse

a) We learn what we live, and then we live what we learned. Only we get a little more extreme in our ideas.

5) No one is ultimately responsible

a) eventually we reach a point where we point the finger at everyone else

b) Fare becomes I win you lose.

6) A smaller and smaller portion of the population works

a) As more and more votes are for receiving other peoples money.

b) There is no reason to work, I simply get that check in the mail.

7)The public coffers go dry

a) as more and more are collecting the social safety net and fewer are paying into the Social Safety Net.

8) the public votes for more power for those willing to spend others money

a) again more votes from those that do not want to work, are scared they cannot work, wish to work outside the system and collect system money

9) Those willing to do so become political elites that cannot be voted out of office

10) I believe you will find this is all laid out quite nicely in "The Communist Manifesto". I do believe it is still in print.

You see in every country, though out the history of Earth, that has a social safety net we run into the same issue. But only to those covered by the safety net.

It happened to Egypt, Greece, Rome, Europe, Middle East, Russia, US, Mayans, etc.

First the government supports the elderly that did not have children (generalization only), children become status symbols. Those status symbols do not know how or cannot work. Then we support those unable to support themselves. Children grow up without an understanding of what a job can and/or will do for you, above a paycheck. These same children do not get the attention that a full time parent can give. Because again, I do not need them to retire. The group unable to support themselves grows tot he point that it is over 30% of the society. We have entered the me me society. Parents do not care what the kids do so long as the do not embarrass me. The problem is not mine, I am not responsible you are, there for it is your fault for making me look bad. There for my kids are perfect it is you and your kids that are causing the problem. At this point kids do not care because MOM and DAD do not care.

GSMA and Euro-telcos argue for exemptions from big tech tax crackdown laws

The real target

Lets be honest. These corporations have never and will never pay even a milliliter of gold or any other form of money in taxes. All taxes are paid by people. If I can find a way to get your residence t my taxes I will do so. Therefor there will always be taxes raised on companies in foreign lands and the local companies that would otherwise be caught up in it will get an exemption. So Europe will tax America and the rest of the world and America will tax Europe and the rest of the world, and on and on. The problem is that this will only slow trade and total taxation. The real problem is that the US at Europes request is leaving Europe as a military support and taking the subsidy with them. This is putting a squeeze on the formerly subsidized States of the EU. Now we will all cry about the issue for a few years and the balance will reshape. Same story different verse.

In the end this is just a way to get more out of fewer workers world wide. We will all end up worse off for the experience and all because in the end we all run out of other peoples money to spend. (loose quote from the iron lady, GB)

Re: Not the problem

This does nothing to identify perpetrators only victims. If and that is a huge "IF" the Apple ecosystem was totally secure then I would agree that this could possibly go after real perpetrators of a sick and unnatural activity. The problem is that the only truly secure computer has no hardware and no software. Therefor the Apple Ecosystem that is being scanned can and will have pictures on many accounts that the account holders do not even know is there. I for instance was just told that my free account was about full. I have no idea of what is there or how to really look to see what is there. Therefor if I have fallen, without consciously knowing it, to social engineering, I could potentially have the tax records for Al Capone's 1935 illegal scams saved there. Even if it is my Bio Metrics that put it there, a properly hacked system will also be able to put it there with my Bio Metrics.

I am in favor of an corporation in the US, Europe, Canada, or Australia conducting searches of information they have access to. So long as those searches are limited in scale, are ordered through request and authorized by a state supreme court, monitored by their government as an oversight, are not specifically requested by the government and the government is not an active member of the search, and positive results are fed directly to the national police. The national police must cooperate with all other nations national police to advise the offending holder of the information collected in writing, no immediate arrests nor can the national police use the information in the court of law. The results are there and can be reviewed by all publicly elected politicians. Cannot be made public to any new agency of any kind. Violations of any of the above would mean a prison term of 6 to 8 years without parole in the states maximum security prison.

When server and network security is like a safe with four dial locks and politicians have sufficient limitations that being a politician is not a carrier we can discus changing the rules.

It is way to easy to get things on your computer that you did not put there, on all platforms, to say that an individual is totally responsible for the data on all of the storage devices the manage. This is if indeed you can say an average reasonable citizen actually actively manages there data at all. On top of all of that we have no computing devices that are useful that are also connected to the internet.

Useful Idiots

This is just one big tech company wishing that they had built the ecosystem first, and to lazy to build their own. Oh, wait, they did try that. Their economy still has not worked. I believe only the lawyers will ever win in this fight. However, there are those that see this as a way to bring all the rest down to their level of insecure living.

Re: Apple English

Well then gOOGLE is ok then as well? Or maybe Micro$ is better for you. If you worried less about things we cannot change and more about how you are going to get your utopian ecosystem up and running, then Apple would not be a problem for you. It would appear that only your lack of imagination is at risk here.

Re: Browser

Your assertion on flash alone has be proven. Apple was correct all along. If not Flash would still be here. Flash would be stronger than ever. Flash would be everywhere except Apple devices. The problem for you and others is that just because you like something, that does not make it the best, or even safe to use.

Re: It's not Either/Or

For sure no computer with a single interface to anything, including Humans are secure. Apple is attempting to be the most secure. That is all. Anyone that thinks any computer they have, use or talk to is secure, is in a dream. It is very dangerous to believe otherwise. It is even worse to not make the attempt to be secure.

Re: Sideloading no, better revenue model yes

NO! I do not believe any company should be able to charge 30% for anything. In fact they should get Zero %. There is but one problem. Nobody has figured out how to make that happen and stay in business. Everything costs something. I see so many out there with the attitude that Apple is so greedy. Yet none of you are willing to put up your money to create the perfect ecosystem. You know where everyone is protected and everything is free.

Way to many "Useful Idiots" out there.

When I hear and read opinion on this issue, I hear all sorts of things about how Apple is ending our freedom or has no faith in their customer. For truths sake I do not believe anyone has used this exact fraise, but it is the idea they are getting across. And so if all of these people are correct in their assertions, then. Why on earth does every company I have ever worked for do the exact same thing that Apple is doing? Why then, do we make every attempt to stop any outsider from getting into our networks and for sure our computers?

Well if Apple must stop their walled garden, then every corporation in the US / World should simply drop their walled gardens. Everyone should have access to every piece of data world wide. Every nation should have access to every citizen's personal information. Maybe not specifics but in generalities anyway. No true secrets, no privacy. Oh, wait, that is the Android system. So if, as a consumer, I have the choice of getting an Android phone, pad, or watch then are not the rest of you simply attempting to get into a corporate network in a different country without that nations consent and without that users consent?

I see this as no different than gentlemen's club. If I choose to hang it all out there so there are no secrets, so that everyone knows exactly what I have, I have that choice. But if I want to keep what I have private and show it only to my spouse I can. The fact that it makes some uncomfortable that I get to see yours and you do not get to see mine, well that is to bad. You chose the quick Euro over privacy. And I totally support your choose and the right to have that choice. Why then are so many so hell bent on taking my choice, and that of so many, away? Or is this about your big tech company of choice not having access to my data and therefor making an extra dollar on my information?

If this is all about who makes the most Bitcoin in the shortest time, then it is not just the big tech that are greedy. Remember Stalin's famous words "We must make full use of the useful idiots". Yes I know that is not the exact quote. I just know I did not think of it first.

Is US prudishness ruining the internet?

Those without a stake are experts

I very much like this article. The author is obviously very intelligent. I would be very happy with anyone that firmly agrees with this article to go ahead and buy one of the struggling companies that deal in the social networking arena and put your social values on it. In this way you can alleviate the pent up need for a less stringent social network where your ideas can flow freely. Thank you for your opinion.
