Korean boffins discover secret to quick-charge batteries

DAN*tastik

@ZanzibarRastapopulous Re: Fast charging

3K in Italy is not really an issue... My mum lives there and there are not many more people more power hungry than that woman. She doesn't quite grasp the concept of saving energy, and if she finds a way I am sure she'll start inhaling the stuff while injecting herself with it! For some reason I can't understand she has a huge fridge and two fridge freezers. And she is not one to switch the telly off at night while she sleeps in front of it, or the aircon when there's nobody at home for a while. Never managed to educate her...

I am not sure how the average family could need more power than she does!

I really doubt that all the economic issues are because of the 3k limit at all.

And maybe there is something else to add to the list of things to tell a therapist once I finally decide to see one :)

Apple iPad fondlers are about to enter a THIRD DIMENSION

DAN*tastik

Fantastic!

If I am not wrong ( I could easily be ) they need a working model to have it patented?

f that is the case, where is it kept? As much as I don't like Apple, I would be thrilled to try it. Does it also work with their keyboard made of extra terrestrial rock fragments?

If I manage to create something similar, but with a procedure which is different from the one they specified, I believe I am not infringing their patent... ( I could easily be wrong again )

It would be handy to have a look at the steps to obtain it that they submitted to the patent office?

Jury selection delays start of Apple/Samsung patent showdown

@ Fred Flinstone - Re: jury selection delay

I have found "talking about a a throwing"

Anything else it would be great if you, or somebody else, pointed that out. If it's not a typo, it would be something for me to learn! Withdrew my previous reply to your post because I re-read and it could have come across as a bit arsy, and it wasn't my intention at all :)

DAN*tastik

Re: jury selection delay

"Who is gonna win" because if you replace the "hoos" sound with "who is" it makes sense. In this case they are not talking about "who owns a gonna"

"They're obsessed" because it means "they are". If you can replace the "there" sounds with "I am", then it's "they're"

"By them". Use "by" when it's a passive form of a verb, "buy" when there is a purchase involved, "bye" when somebody is leaving

"the judges will be, but the fact" it is common practice to put a comma before "but" so it's easier to understand that you are talking about something else, and the reader can pause a second to take a breath.

"Apple solves things by" because in this case it can be replaced with "through" or "using". For all the uses of "by" you can read this: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/by

"throwing patents" the "ing form" is the correct one here. For example, you could say something along the lines of "ignoring patents". You were not talking about a a throwing action that happened in the past.

"can't" is the contraction of cannot, and the apostrophe replaces the "no" which is dropped.

"the competition and they're" again, if you replace the "there" sound with I am it makes sense. So, it is just the contraction of "they are", "they're"

"losing market share" because when you "lose" something, it means you end up with a smaller amount than in the past. "Loose" is an adjective which means "less tight"

"market share, boo hoo" Again, a comma helps the reader pause to take a deep breath, and it means the sentence is completed.

As Holly Harper would say, "Hope that helps!"

WTF?

The customer is always wrong?

- It does work, it's you holding it wrong

- It does work, it's you doing something wrong to it

- Our phones are great, the problem is that people in Italy, Spain and Belgium ( or something similar ) not buying them

- We didn't reach the target because some of our customers are waiting for the new version of our product to hit the shelves

Is the next strategy for big companies to start suing those who buy their products, claiming that the negative feebacks on Twitter or Amazon are only because they can't use something properly?

And then suing those who don't buy their products, because they interfere with their targets?

If anyone knows a good lawyer ( or solicitor, attorney or barrister or whatever, I never get it right ), put their contact details on here in case we all end up in courts.

Re: If you use the proper name everybody on here will surely understand

I do not think that everything I see on the Internet is true, but if you search for "physicists hate term god particle" you get plenty of results, if you search for "physicists love term god particle" you get results with the words scrambled in the text...

Using Google, for example, the second search, with "love" returns "Particle physicists searching for the Higgs boson hate the term "God Particle," ... Physicists love the Higgs boson, but they hate the God particle."

I only thought it would be more appropriate to use the name chosen by those working on it, rather than mentioning some random magical entity...

@DanceMan - Re: Comming from a World renowned company in Social networking

English is my second language, so I believe I have some idea of what I am talking about - but I admit I am not expert in the field...

I think in English 99% of the time, but in other languages "their", "there", "they're" will be different from each other. Because of that, they are three distinct concepts ( not sure it's the right word for that, but I am sure it somehow explains it ) in my head. So it's very unlikely I will ever get it wrong. Same with "wear", "where", "your", "you're", "it's", "its", "waist", "waste".

Somebody who was born in an English speaking country, will most likely start to speak English, then associate it to a spelling later on in life. So the confusion can come from here.

In my experience, it's more likely you get a native speaker misspelling things like "your" and "you're", and non native speakers choosing the wrong word to say something... No matter how many times I look it up, I have no idea when to use "may" and when to use "might" for example. I also got "sex" and "gender" wrong on a post on here, and somebody was kind enough to explain the difference to me. I blinked, and it went :)

Having said that, it is depressing that English teachers do not manage to teach children how to spell, but still keep their jobs!

You looked for medieval pictures. You should have looked for medieval videos instead.

Unfortunately the medieval folks here didn't have the technology to put English subtitles in their medieval videos, but if you skip to 3:45 you can see the people who were medievally singing and playing earlier on, sitting at a medieval table with medieval food on it.
