Last day, I've come to an end of my number crunching and I'm ready for the off. Only gift was a bottle opener with a nice splintered pine handle.
30 minutes and counting... then my lady and I will be buying booze, and car shopping, then back to hers for a Merry time!
Happy Festivities BOFH and all other El Reg regulars! I'll be raising a beer, whiskey and wine glass to all.
Really, this shows the arrogance of NASA in a big way, they judge planets on what WE consider habitable, we are not exactly so shit hot with science that we know for certain that no other forms of life other than similar forms of life we have on our planet can possibly exist somewhere else...
I think this every time I see NASA release some INCREDIBLE NEWS OF HABITABLE PLANETS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTRA TERRESTRIAL LIFE!! ...
What we consider inhospitable could be a hypothetical Utopia to another form of life... Pluto could have happy little things sliding around on the ice, loving every second of it... We've found creatures on our planet that can survive in extreme cold conditions with 'anti-freeze' for blood (mainly insects and fish), and life on our planet is considered young in comparison to the theoretical age of the universe. That in mind, imagine what evolution has created with some of the 'old' life elsewhere in the universe.
We may as well ask Ye Olde English philosophers and/or politicians to tell us where our outside habitable planets are, and where to look for life, as my suspicion is they have as good an idea as NASA or the various other cosmosocial (like my new word?) organisations.
Ok, so the Rapture didnt happen... But I had a great time on Saturday. I made sure I was sinning from start to finish. If it's going to happen, may as well have fun.
Honestly, it amazes me that anyone still takes religious ramblings seriously anymore. And it's true as has been stated already, the media is the only reason it became so heard about.
I like it though, as far as generations surviving apopalypse goes, our generation is doing pretty bloody well! Campings first Rapture, Millenium Bug threatening to nuke the world, I'm sure there was another apocalypse in the early 2000's, we've just had Campings second attempt, and soon to have the Mayan 2012 disaster.
Good job everyone! Keep dodging your own annihilation! ;)
I sent my Desire back to them about 3-4 weeks ago, which was collected, "repaired" and promptly returned back around 10 days later. However, the repeated crashing (reknowned in the HT02-07 serial numbers) continued an hour after turning on the "REPAIRED" device.
A couple of angry emails to HTC, they collected my phone again... the tracking stated it was being delivered for a week, I checked the tracking on the UPS website and it was claiming to be delivered. Another angry email to HTC support and I get it back saying it was delivered, but they have this 20 day back log.
I send a VERY angry message then (accusing them of not even looking at my phone originally), only to be told my phone has been moved onto a priority list. Now when I check on the tracking, my phone is in testing... Could it be they told the truth, or have they just bumped the status? We wait and see, however I'm doubtful.
It's more annoying that I forgot to reset my phone before I sent it... Oops.
Samsung next time.
We're all a little hooked up on gravity and what life may exist there... Isnt it ironic, it's in the Libra constellation, the scales are clearly not calibrated correctly.
A suggestion, now here me out on this. SEND IN CHUCK NORRIS!! He'll roundhouse that gravity down to a manageable size.
So there are a couple of Heinlein entries, however, Stranger in a Strange Land (despite being my choice) would make an epic movie that would be rubbish compared to the book...
Now if "I Shall Fear No Evil" was up there, THAT would be an awesome movie... the weird twists and dark undertones would make it not only a strong philosophical Sci-Fi but would also be quite a chiller...
