I would pay a subscription fee for (say) Radio 4 (or even all of BBC Radio) and BBC 2 and 4.
But only if I could avoid subsidizing the crap dished out on BBC1 and 3 by only being able to get the channels I want in a "bundle" with other channels, like on satellite or subscription tv.
When calculating the energy required, Page says we should assume a growth in energy use of 3x as the world's economies grow. He calls that "realistic".
Then when calculating the GDP he says we should assume a "drastic" reduction in output because of those evil IPCC scientists.
Finally Page assumes that even when producing 4 million wind turbines there will be no economies of scale whatsoever, instead suggests we should "multiplying our $12tn cost figure a few times at the very least".
It seems unlikely that MSFT would give their souce code to anyone in China, although perhaps the Chinese could get the source through other means (hint, APT).
But this seems like an excellent outcome for the US: crappy broken software running on Chinese military computers must make it easier for the US to find out what the PLA are up to.
@AC #4: I've never heard of a serious Linux and UNIX guy who considered Windows comparable to either.
