USB-C for Surface owners arrives in form of a massive dongle

Alert

Size Matters..

But in this case does it really...

The people who would be interested or use this can just replace their charging unit with this and thus are carrying around the same amount/size of clutter.

Quote from the source article: "The actual connector itself is rather large, with similar dimensions to a standard Surface charger."

Cloudflare touts privacy-friendly 1.1.1.1 public DNS service. Hmm, let's take a closer look at that

Re: 1.1.1.1 conflict

And some ISP routers do this too.

Wonder who's great idea that was.

So if I understand this correctly, Chip and Pin Cards would not of been affected (unless you swiped and signed)?

Anyone understand this enough to confirm :)

Meh

Symbols...

Here's hoping they add a default online source for symbols.

Or at least default to "SRV*c:\temp\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"

The rest I don't care about but please save me from a quick google for symbol location/path every time I use it once per 2 years :(

Is that a Veeam in HPE's eye? IT giant may gobble backup biz

ozor
Facepalm

Please don't...

Does anyone remember vRanger, it was once at the cutting edge and a real contender to Veeam in the virtual backup estate. First it was sold to Quest, then Quest to Dell, and now it slowly is fading away into obscurity :(

Whereas Veeam continued to grow, add new good and wanted functionality but sticking to a clean simple interface which does not require day to day hand holding.

The day HPE buy Veeam will be a sad day and time to stop recommending it :(

Common sense version 1.0 though.

Had this enabled since day 1 of using Strava, even set privacy zones around any friends I may visit and cycle with, was one of my first thoughts :/

Blame your operator & manufacturer not Google

In probably 99% of all these scenarios the only reason your still running 2 version or older OS's is because your either your manufacturer or network operator cant be #$%~$ to forward on these updates to you. And why should they? if your phone becomes obsolete excellent you will go back to them to get another.

Until you learn the below points this will continue forever as its a great money spinner.

* Contracts are bad

* Leave manufacturers who do not maintain OS updates

* Dont get Network Operator branded phones

If the Network Operators or manufacturers are not punished for treating there user base like a big fat cash cow then they will never stop.

And you can see a Apple FanBoi using that, they would rather spend the extra on the nearly 2000% more expensive device and look cool (in their own eyes at least)

"I haven't seen a single corporation that's upgraded from XP on clients"

Really? you cant get out too much, I would say about 30% I have seen are already mostly Win7 with another 30% in planning.

"and now that everyone's intent on shifting to VM clients"

I have seen more corporate users upgrading to Win 7 than implementing VDI solutions.

"everyone's intent on shifting to VM clients, an 'upgrade' to anything as resource hungry as Win7"

You know its not so bad as you would expect, at least using VMware's optimisation guide for windows 7 average user onjly requires 1GB of memory, this compares with XP recommended of 1GB normal and 512MB Low End.

http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/view/Server-Storage-Sizing-Guide-Windows-7-TN.pdf (Page 6 has good overview of requirements)

http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/VMware-View-OptimizationGuideWindows7-EN.pdf

Re Windows 8. no way any corporate gonna upgrade to this unless Metro can be disabled, we all know it so its Microsoft's choice. Already at this stage most large corporations would have seen Windows 8 beta and made their opinion based on it.

The only business customers who are likely to buy Windows 8 desktop now is SMB customers so it all depends on the revenue generated from that.

Well thats my 2cents anyway, i expect to be stuck with metro which is a real shame as really like all the rest of windows 8 (desktop and server) but Metro will kill it for me :(

what a load of crap.

80% of people I see with iPhones buy it not because they can afford it but because:

A: They wish to appear trendy than they are

B: They wish to appear more wealthy than they are

C: There friend has it so so must I

I guess the other 20% are people who actually like the phone and think it is good value for money =p

That'll be because iphone ppl will buy any crap offered =p

45% of Android users to upgrade to rival phone OSes

Most fail articale I have ever seen here.

Title - 45% of Android users to upgrade to rival phone OSes

And then you go on saying that most Android users will not stick with there current vendor....

What has vendor got to do with OS regarding Android?

Most Android users will be like myself, maybe you will stick with same vendor or maybe at the time something else will catch your fancy because da da da "YOU ARE NOT TIED TO A SINGLE VENDOR"

If the querstion was asked will you stick with android then its relevant, otherwise completely useless irrelevant artical
