C&W Worldwide boss out after 4 months

FAIL

There's no light at the end of this tunnel

Oh dear, I sympathise for the grunts who will continue to be pushed by the handlers above demanding that last drop of blood.

Poor management, poorly managed staff, those poor customers.......

Demon summons up gamer-centric broadband plan

FAIL

Lacking in direction and failing to get the basics right

Demon/Thus was bought by Cable & Wireless and tasked with expanding into the SME market, freeing C&W to expand at the higher end, how individual gamers fit into that category I don't know. This hardly seems like something which will bring a major amount of business into Demon/Thus. I really think that the company should try and fix what doesn't work within the organisation (Such as it's support operations), finish it's shrinkage (Going from 1500 staff down to 300 in the space of 16 months, and still shrinking even now is extremely painful!) and stabilise it's services to business clients instead of trying to chase a new customer demographic. This smacks of desperation and headline chasing, a bit like when the company relaunched the brand advertising the fact they had no FUP, only to "have to" introduce one a month later due to the bad bad users forcing it's hand, a terrible failure in planning a strategy for growth.

Sky confirms Easynet sell-off

Thumb Down

Lloyds Capital will expect their pound of flesh.....

.....and they will get it, extracting maximum value out of the business (i.e Bleed it dry) before then disposing of the carcass choppity-chop, oh wait, Deja Vu!

Watching the telecomms industry is like watching nature at work. One company falls prey to another, get's outsted from it's den/has food stolen, then falls prey to smaller and smaller beasts who take what they want to until finally it's just a scattering of bones.

If anyone thinks anything other then they seriously have not watched what has happened in the industry over the last 10 years at least. Employees suffer, customers suffer, management gain and shareholders gain, thank you very much and good night.

Nice knowing you Easynet, I expect a small little piece in the Reg in about 5 years announcing the burial of some bones found somewhere in London.

Oh, and don't criticise Nomes, he's right in one respect, David and Justin will do extremely well out of this, they'll grab what they can on the way down and then jump ship onto the next big beast that they like the look of (Cycle and repeat), I don't know about "the team" though, but hey, they are nameless anyway, casn easily be sacrificed (As they will be).

Sky announcement on Easynet sell-off expected by Thursday

Dead Vulture

"We are unable to respond at present"....

.......They're too busy inking the paperwork for the sale.

Expect:-

- Senior management getting pay rises and bonuses

- Redundancies

- Downsizing

- Existing staff workloads going through the roof (You now wear 4 hats, not just one, remember

- "the company has the right to ask you to do other little bits and pieces beyond your normal contracted role"

- "We expect flexibility from employees"

- Escalation techies like Dan and anyone else with any decent experience in the business will disappear and be replaced by "Davide" who has worked in telecomms for 5 mins and is on a 10th of the pay of the previous staff.

- Call queues where there weren't any before

- Increased network outages because the company has lost direct access to the network and the "men who can"

- "Refocusing of the business"

- Outsourcing

Followed by a slow death and sale of the brand name and IP and finally closure of all offices linked with the business and redundancies for all.

C&W issues profit warning on public sector cuts

C&W will survive.....for now....

In light of this news (And Sky considering sale of Easynet) I reckon C&W will sell some assets this year to inflate their performance by the end of the financial year (I'm looking squarely at you Thus, who only survived staying part of the C&W family last year due to the demerger),

Sky in talks to sell Easynet, claim insiders

Cable & Wireless will be watching this with interest

If Sky are successful with this then I reckon Cable & Wireless will do the same to Thus choppity-chop! ;) (If they're not planning it already).

Daisy Communications, (A reseller for C&W anyway), appear to be in the market for further aquisitions and would still leave C&W receiving revenue from a resold Thus.

Sign of the times in telecomms, subscribers and employees losing out to the shareholders as normal......

Pirates (yar!) because that's what senior management are a bunch of.....
