HTC U12+: Like a Pixel without the pratfalls, or eye-watering price tag

Meh

"Like a Pixel without the pratfalls"... and presumably without the updates

I had plenty of HTCs in my time, but gave up on them when I realised that they considered phones older than a few months too elderly to have even basic security updates. Has anything changed in this respect?

Re: Curious about break lights

The brake lights do not come on with regenerative braking. But the author's comment about number 5 'throwing the anchors' is, in my opinion, not entirely correct, it is maybe slightly stronger than typical engine braking.

Super Cali so litigious, Uber is the focus. Even German judges say it's something quite atrocious

Re: Taken a ride?

I've used Uber in Amsterdam several times and have had nothing but good service. Occasionally at night the app reports that there aren't enough cars out to take me - and then a day later they have given me a 10 euro credit. Before it was a pain dicking about finding a taxi and then facing the ambiguity of how much the ride would cost and sorting out payment, now it's just a case of using then app and afterwards the amount comes off the credit card.

FAIL

Lacie build quality

No doubt the casing will survive a truck or other sufficiently heavy object, but it'll all come to nothing when the USB plug falls off after a few times of use. Almost every piece of Lacie equipment I have ever seen has eventually failed, either because the ports were poorly mounted on the board or the controller or psu failed.
