It's time to presume the web is guilty

P2P? Rely? Free software?

> I rely on peer-to-peer to get access to things like Linux ISOs that are vital for my work.

Erm, why? Free software has a massive network of perfectly good mirrors providing at least http and ftp protocols, if not also additional protocols such as rsync. And you can easily whitelist these since they're usually on fixed domains, if not fixed IP (range)s.

The only reason P2P exists is also the reason that prevents you from white listing it (easily) - the users don't want anyone else to know what's in it, where it's going or where it's come from (I realise it isn't totally anonymous in its present form, but you get the point)

Google vanishes Android apps from citizen phones

Welcome

Go Google!

As a Nexus One owner, I'm glad they have and use this facility. All the evidence so far says they've only used it to protect users, so I don't see a problem.

Until there's at least a shred of evidence they even intend to use this feature maliciously, I will be much happier knowing it's there and used than not having it.

The thing about ebooks for me is...

The thing that really puts me off ebooks versus hardcopy is the price. Yeah, I may be able to copy an ebook to multiple devices, but when I can get 2+ hardback copies for the same price, that seems kind of moot.
