Activision calls for duty with premium subscription

Non disclosure agreement

Anyone else notice this was all under an NDA except for the Wall Street Journal, surely proof, if it was actually needed that this is all about milking the players for as much cash as possible and so keep the investors happy and not as much about the players as it should be. Activision have obviously views the millions who play online and have been looking to.....monetise (should that be a z or s in there?) these millions.

I've not played COD since MW2 and I'm not in a rush to go after this one, especially if the campaign comes in under 6 hours again.

UK iPad 2 to cost under £400

looks like the Gilette model to me

If Apple take 30% of everything sold on the new wunderslab, then perhaps they can afford to sell it at a loss and come in cheaper than the competition they can make up the extra on applications/programs/subscriptions sold over its life time, I only know one person who has the original and no idea what he has on it, but anyone got any figures on how much the average owner spends in iTunes in the lifetime of the product, does it make up the difference between cost and retail price, plus more for profit? Problem is, the cheaper it stays the more people buy it, the more sales through iTunes there are and the more money there is to Apple as it becomes more and more desirable as each generation is born due to the 1,000,000,000,000,000+ fart applications you can buy.

Except

It seems people will have to wait till 5pm on Friday

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/43592/UK-iPad-2-launch-delayed-for-six-hours

Apparently Apple stores wont be getting their stock till late so PC World and the rest have to keep hold of it.

Is that so the queues will be longer in the afternoon so Apple can have more people outside their stores so it looks good on the news? Will the light be better Friday evening so photos in the press look better?

Or is it just if Apple stores dont have stock till late Friday, the whole world and his iPad 2 wanting dog will have already bought their fondle slab MK II from PC World and the idea of having stock left over is just not fair/right or something?

WTF?

HDMI numbers

Just a bit of an early morning rant, but....HDMI is no longer going to be 1.4, .2, .3, .4 etc? is this because Sony (I know others were involved somehwere, but to me its still a Sony format) rushed out the initial release to beat HD-DVD and current users are basically beta testers for the finished product which will get released when exactly?

I've not bought a blu-ray player yet, but if I'd purchased 12 months ago and now find out it is not 1.4 compatible, I'd be more than a bit pissed off. Yes I know most have a network port for updates, but do they all and how easy is it for the average home user to update?

The title is required, and must contain letters and/or digits.

25%? Ha! I just voted and I am at 0.11% of the votes, although our exchange has less than 1000 premises apparently so we don't even count! We have 884. Can I apply to the council to build another 116 houses so we can all vote do you think?

Australian Life

A few years ago I spent a year working in Sydney and much to my parents annonyance I came back to the UK, they could'nt understand why I would leave and why I'd not bought a flat out there so they had somewhere to stay!

While I admit having the surf and the mountains so close was nice and Sydney harbour is beautiful you soon realise that Australia has just the same problems as the rest of us, racist attacks on the beach was a big thing when I was there, dodgy police, boy racers and one strange restriction no 18 certifcate games for my 360 and yet its fine to have a brothel on every other street? weird.

After reading the most recent events though relating to internet usage like this and the black list of websites I am now more than happy that I left and came back to the UK, but when ever I mention this to my parents they see it as such a small factor in life out there. I sometimes wonder if a majority of people will live with restrictions like this, after all, if they cant see what they are missing how do they know somethings wrong?

Will people end up using Twitter as a method to communicate with Australians to inform them what is happening in the real world?

RE: WTF...?

I'm not saying I get fake invites, these are invites from real friends in the real world who obviously think as they have an FB account I should also have one. Its not like we talk about the terrors/delights of FB and I voice my opinion about how much I hate it, not all my friends are in IT or read The Reg and so they can live in blissful ignorance.

I just find it a little creepy that even though I dont have an account, FB knows my address, my name, my general location and who some of my friends are, I think on the last invite that came to me FB even suggested other friends we might have in common!

I dont have an account but...

I still get emails from friends via facebook who want me to join, initially I didn't think much of it, but now every new one I get shows all my previous invitations, so even though I dont have an account, I almost do, due to my friends who have signed up, I guess all they have is name, email address and possibly a general location, but still more information than I would like them to have.

RE: Video fixation

Although it does video, have you seen the new machines from Creative?

I've been waiting about a year for a replacement to my still very good and unfortunatly very full 30GB Zen Vision:M and this might be it. 64GB capacity, although the screen is a little smaller than the V5 and the price could do with being under £200 really, but it looks like a great player.

I saw one in Comet the other week and wanted to have a play unfortunatly they had lost the key to their cabinet!
